  1. Under Two Flags 🍁

It's #flagday in Canada to celebrate our current flag which is my second flag as I'm a few years older than it is. I was born under the first and am loyal to the second, and I cherish them both.

  2. Canada’s Flag Takes Flight: The Maple Leaf Rises 🍁

On February 15, 1965, Canada officially adopted its now-iconic red-and-white Maple Leaf flag. The new design, created by George F. G. Stanley and John Matheson, was chosen to better represent Canada’s distinct identity. Today, National Flag of Canada Day celebrates this powerful symbol of unity and pride! 🇨🇦 #MapleLeaf #Canada #FlagDay #NationalPride

  18. #50501Movement Protest Group: Book #Trump #MilitaryParade Tickets, Then Don't Show

    By Mandy Taheri
    Published Jun 12, 2025

"Celebration and protest are expected to collide on Saturday as President Donald Trump's 79th birthday, the U.S. Army's 250th anniversary and hundreds of '#NoKings' demonstrations converge across the country.

"The protest group 50501 is urging supporters to reserve free tickets to Trump's planned military parade and then not attend, aiming to leave the event sparsely populated.

    Why It Matters

"The protests, organized by the 50501 Movement (50 protests, 50 states, one movement) and other groups, are targeting a military parade scheduled to take place in the nation's capital on June 14, coinciding with Trump's 79th #unbirthday, the Army's 250th anniversary, and #FlagDay.

"Organizers of the protests are calling for June 14 to be a 'nationwide day of defiance' and are calling for both people to join in the protests as well as eat up tickets to the military parade."

  19. A note on #WashingtonDC from #NoKings

"On #June14#FlagDay#DonaldTrump wants tanks in the street and a made-for-TV display of dominance for his birthday. A spectacle meant to look like strength. But real power isn’t staged in Washington. It rises up everywhere else.

"Instead of allowing this birthday parade to be the center of gravity, we will make action everywhere else the story of America that day: people coming together in communities across the country to reject strongman politics and corruption.

"For that reason, NO KINGS is not hosting an event in Washington, D.C. We will instead have a major flagship march and rally in #Philadelphia to draw a clear contrast between our people-powered movement and the costly, wasteful, and #UnAmerican birthday parade in Washington. You can RSVP for the Philadelphia event at the link below.

"For participants in the D.C. area, we encourage you to join us in Philadelphia, find a local NO KINGS mobilization in #Virginia or #Maryland, or join our partners at #FreeDC for #DCJoyDay, a community-led event in the District."

"The Department of Defense over the weekend wished social media a 'Happy Flag Day!'

'Let us honor the emblem of our nation and the stars and stripes that unite us all. As we display our nations flag and reflect on the values it represents, let’s celebrate the freedom, courage and resilience that makes our country great,' the department stated Saturday.

The image attached to the post included two small images that appear to represent the Russian flag.

    The internet reaction came quickly.

Geopolitics expert Jessica Berlin said, 'Nothing to see here, just the United States Dept of Defense wishing everyone a happy Russian flag day.'

Economics professor Roman Sheremeta said, 'The U.S. Department of Defense congratulated Americans on their Flag Day. Except the two small flags are Russian.'

'This post has been up on the Department’s X page for several hours. It is very telling about who is really running the U.S. Department of Defense,' he added on Saturday."

  27. June 14, 1943 - The U.S. Supreme Court decided a West Virginia case [Barnette v. Board of Education] by upholding the constitutional right of children in public schools to refuse to salute the American flag when it is in conflict with their religious beliefs.

A group of Jehovah’s Witnesses had objected to the mandatory salute as a violation of the Judeo-Christian third commandment (Exodus 20:4) which prohibits worshipping a graven image.

“To sustain the compulsory flag salute, we are required to say that a bill of rights, which guards the individual's right to speak his own mind, left it open to public authorities to compel him to utter what is not in his mind.” – from the 6-3 decision

    Also, happy #FlagDay!

It feels so good to see the US flag flown in a context where people are celebrating the things we do right like protests and community, while also screaming fervently about the many things we desperately need to fix.

So amazing to see the distinction between patriotism and nationalism blazing bright and laid bare. 🩷🇺🇸🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

  29. Happy #FlagDay!

  30. "#NoKings" protests draw large crowds throughout #Maine

    Jun 14, 2025

" 'No Kings' protests draw large crowds in Portland and across the state of Maine Saturday to rally against the Trump Administration. Organizers of the protests are calling Saturday the 'No Kings #NationalDayOfDefiance.'

"Organizers have been getting ready for the demonstrations for weeks.

"#Protests around the country are also happening while the #Trump Administration celebrates the 250th anniversary of the United States Army. It is also #FlagDay and President Trump's birthday."

On this amazing #NoKings #FlagDay it's important to celebrate the good in #America, a country I believe can be a force for good again.
