All of our Flyover Country vireos molt here at the end of summer, and that means that right now they look pretty spiffy. Even Warbling Vireos, a bird that some folks ID based on the lack of any distinctive field marks, are looking very fine after losing those old raggedy feathers and getting brand new ones!

This little male spent days trying to get into our sitting room, through a closed window. I don't know how he didn't smash his beak. I think he was seeing his reflection in the window and trying to defend his territory from what he saw as a rival male.
