A few days ago, I got back from a 4-day group biodiversity survey in the Mule Mountains, Arizona (the peaks around Bisbee). I've spent half the day uploading only about half of my observations to an iNaturalist project called "Mule Mountains- September 2026", if anyone wants to see what we've found on this trip. Most people haven't uploaded all their observations yet.
We were particularly looking for Ditmars' horned lizard (Phrynosoma ditmarsi), not known to be in the U.S. but somewhat common in the mountains of Sonora, MX if you know where to look. They could be here, but we haven't found them yet.
Anyway, I just uploaded a new-to-me plant that is commonly called Fetid Goosefoot (Dysphania incisa) and now I want to know the story behind its name.
