  1. If you can't afford to travel to an archive but can afford to pay someone for a few hours of their time, there is now a tool for that: #Sourcery. It allows you to pay someone on the ground to go scan or photograph what you need. #palaeography #manuscripts

  2. ICYMI over the holidays: #Sourcery now has a plugin for #ArchivesSpace. If you’re an archivist, you can now let researchers request document scans directly through their Sourcery account from your online finding aid. Check it out!

  3. I never managed to post an #introduction, so here goes.

I’m Tom Scheinfeldt. I’m a faculty member at the University of Connecticut, where I teach history of technology, digital culture, design thinking, and digital humanities. I also direct an interdisciplinary research incubator called Greenhouse Studios. I’ve worked on lots of things through the years both at @uconn and at the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media at George Mason University, including #Sourcery, #THATCamp, and #Omeka.

I blog at foundhistory.org. I like #swimming and #skiing and I have a wife and two sons. We live in West Hartford.

    Loving Mastodon so far!

(BTW: If you followed me in the last week or so, you may want to do so again. A bunch of followers were erased due to some technical issues on my server.)
