  1. RSS feed is simple and awesome idea. I run a rss server and sync feeds locally using #fluentreader app and today I learned there is lite version for Android
Named #FluentReaderLite but it is not available in #fdroid we have to download manually so I used #obtainium to install it

    github.com/yang991178/fluent-r

Another good option is #readyou android app which is available in fdroid

  2. @robyn I use #FreshRSS as the syncing platform. If you don't want to self-host, there are quite a few community instances (I use Chère de Prince): freshrss.org/cloud-providers.h

On Android, I use #ReadYou as my RSS reading app: github.com/ReadYouApp/ReadYou

I also like #Feeder, but it doesn't connect to syncing platforms...

For podcasts, I use Gpodder.net (to sync) and #AntennaPod (app).

  5. Unfortunately, tapping on a news story at the moment in #ReadYou from a widget just opens up a blank white screen. Hopefully this gets fixed.
  6. At long last, #ReadYou (my favorite #RSS feed reader for #Android) has added widgets!

  8. I've been meaning to share this for a while, but for any Android users out who want to use a text-to-speech engine other than Google's, I recommend Sherpa TTS: github.com/woheller69/ttsEngine

It's open source, offline, multilingual, and available on F-Droid.

I use text-to-speech a lot with my RSS readers (Feeder and ReadYou), and it's been a game-changer.

  9. @_jocmp I did try #ReadYou when searching for my Android #RSS reader of choice.

While it got the job done, it was inexplicably slow at loading my feeds. And it felt a bit cluttered. So much so that I gave #CapyReader a try, and I'm very glad I did.

Capy works well, is very performant, and is clutter-free. I see its simplicity as a plus, really.

  10. @wowaname @nicholas on #Android and #LineageOS I primarily use #ReadYou although #AggregatorNews is also great.

I don't care much about syncing, but am looking for a website I can upload an OPML file to so I can see all my #RSS feeds on my work machine.
  11. @simx72 Subscribing to your #RSS.

Edit : Hmm ... weird it isn't working with #ReadYou. This is the error ➡️ "Invalid XML: Error on line 1: At line 1, column 236: not well-formed (invalid token)"

  12. @xiann Yea it's a #ReadYou problem, works fine on #capyreader (most of the time).

    * It would be great if it also allowed comments to be shown because it's the soul of any conversation on #socialmedia.

  13. @xiann I've to try it on other apps to see if it's a #ReadYou problem or feed problem.

  14. @xiann Yup, it works ... but, I think there's some problem with #ReadYou.

  15. has finally added support and it's so nice that and finally have some competition.

Capy is so light tho I'll probably keep using it.

  17. Been using #ReadYou as an RSS reader for #FreshRSS on my phone, it's really nice
