Nakonec o půl roku dřív: čas na nový mobil, jelikož mi můj starý blbne už vícero způsoby (novinka: náhodně zhasíná displej).
Nevítaná investice 🫤, ale konečně aspoň budu mít možnost přejít na #GrapheneOS, manželka ho už nějakou dobu používá, instalace je naprosto snadná.
Mobil jsem vybral Pixel 9a, taková aktuálně nejlevnější a dobrá volba.

Všechny ostatní, které jsem doposud zkoušel, mají zásadní problémy, např. Feeder načítá nové feedy strašně pomalu, CapyReader často ukazuje duplicitní články.

I've discovered that by using my Android devices through a VPN address in an EU nation -- even though I reside in the Untied Snakes -- a lot of Google enshittification gets eliminated. (For example: Preventing YouTube links from working in DuckDuckPlayer.)
Now, pleez tell me that there is an Android OS that will work on a pre-2023 Motorola Moto G Power and a Samsung Tab A9+ tablet so that I can be done with this troublesome Google once and for all.

Wahrscheinlich weint das Ding heimlich, weil ich so wenig zugelassen habe 🤪

Ich überlege seit der Meldung, dass CalyxOS für mindestens (weil man weiß ja nicht, was danach kommt) 6 Monate die Entwicklung einstellt, was ich machen soll.
Weil interne Dinge (die Gründer haben CalyxOS verlassen) UND eventuell ist das ja auch ein Problem, dass Google neuerdings die Entwicklung von alternativen OS erschwert.
Ich bin, seit ich mein neues Fairphone mit CalyxOS vor nicht allzu langer Zeit eingerichtet hatte, sehr sehr zufrieden gewesen damit und habe weder Zeit noch Lust, mich um ein anderes alternatives OS zu kümmern (weil Recherche welches OS und dann auch der ganze Download der bisher gespeicherten Dateien).
Wie seht ihr das denn?
Könnte es Sinn ergeben, einfach das halbe Jahr abzuwarten und sich dann nochmal damit zu beschäftigen?
Oder lieber gleich ein anderes OS suchen?
Bin echt bisschen traurig, weil ich mich sehr gefreut habe, dass CalyxOS auf dem Fairphone5 so gut läuft. 😞

Sadly, this is not really an OS problem so much as there was just one person who was writing most of this code, and they appear to have just stopped updating. ☹️

@Rockndoll Soweit ich weiß ist das #AndroidOS ohne Zusatz-Apps #OpenSource - von daher ist der Einsatz von #degoogle Android wie #LineageOS, #eos oder #GrapheneOS durchaus sinnvoll. Mit dem #FOSS Part von #Android machen Google, Facebook und Co sicher keinen Gewinn.Jedes bißchen hilft....

Here we go.
Background. We try to resist as much as possible getting rid of electronics if they still work. E.g. we have an old dual-core Acer laptop that we installed #zorin_os and we use it for streaming.
So this year's project is changing the #AndroidOS in a Breeze tablet with Linux; with #ubuntutouch. It will surely be painful as tablets are finicky, but it will also be a learning experience. Apart from rescuing a good tablet, it will be a stepping stone for the same on our phones.
