  1. #Productive day today, for a refreshing change. I posted a #Substack post, and also made some long-overdue changes to my subscriptions, including letting go of some paid ones that I don’t follow as much anymore. Also, Sarah and I worked on a long-term budget for us, and I actually fully participated and didn’t have an emotional meltdown. This is actually huge. So, on balance, it’s been a great day. #GoodThings

  2. DAILY #WRITING #PROMPT: WHEN DO YOU FEEL MOST #PRODUCTIVE?

    When my eyes are open.

If I’m being honest, most days I start synthesizing theory before I’ve had coffee, and I have to tear myself away at bedtime.

  3. Ah, the #GitHub page that redefines "productive" as repeatedly signing in and out, with all the excitement of watching paint dry. 🤦‍♂️🥱 Apparently, the pinnacle of modern #innovation is juggling #browser #tabs like a #circus #clown. 🎪🤡

  4. Pretty productive week! ☑️

Added a new client to the list earlier in the week and still pressing onward and continuing to build!

I absolutely love my business, it’s one of the most fulfilling things I’ve done.

  5. I feel really #sick right now. And the more I think about the important #task that will be overdue on #monday, the sicker I feel. So, I guess this is #psychosomatic. 🙄

This really sucks, because up to now, I always felt mentally better when I was physically ill. When I’m ill it’s okay to do nothing, I felt. Now, that my brain found this loophole to prevent me from being #productive, I guess I’ll have even more unnecessary #stress than before! 🤬🤬🤬

  6. If you are #tired then there is no point in thinking its a good idea to goto #work, you are not going to be #productive enough and you will be a #safety #risk. Occupational #health & safety is important!!!!

  8. “Over a single weekend, entirely from scratch and heavily “#VibeCoded”, I created by some distance the best #WordProcessor I have ever used. I’ve named it #vibedit. I’m writing in it right now. If there is an actually #productive task for #GenerativeAI, it is as a creator of #bespoke #tools like this. …

… far from removing me from my #work, this #AI experience forced me to think carefully about how I work, and how to craft a fitting tool. I was also confronted as any #craftsperson should be by the minutiae of my #tools

  10. Somebody please remind me, I missed the last meeting and my mind is mixing up what we decided.

Was it guillotines for the billionaires, gallows for the politicians and administration? What did we choose for the Supreme Court again?

  12. The Interplay of Cognitive Function, Well-being, and Achievement: A Holistic View of the Mind

The human mind, in its staggering complexity, is the ultimate engine of personal and professional life. For centuries, philosophers and scientists have sought to understand the mechanisms that drive our thoughts, emotions, and actions.

  13. It's always best to defer to #facts and logic.
The facts (and you can look this up) indicate, that, over decades, the countries with what Americans call " #DemocraticSocialist " policies are more #productive and have happier, healthier #economic majorities ( #workingclass , #disabled , #elderly , etc.) than in countries that don't.

Now, for my opinion: It's completely unpatriotic to buy into the "it can't work here" rhetoric. If #America is "exceptional," then we damn well can make it work here. #FDR did.

  14. Oh yeah how would #anarchists do THIS? *creates #social and #productive #conditions that leads to 30% of my brain being #microplastics and makes the #world so hot as to be completely unlivable for all animal #life *

  15. #Wikipedia - Origin of the concept of a #SacrificeZone

"According to the United Nations Human Rights Council [#UNHRC], the term Sacrifice zone emerged in the #ColdWar period when #NuclearTesting, conducted by #colonial powers, such as the #UnitedStates, #France, the #UnitedKingdom, and the #SovietUnion transformed sections of land into #uninhabitable and highly #radioactive areas. Sacrifice zones can be defined as communities that experience dangerous levels of hazardous contamination and waste exposure. Sacrifice zones are linked to #racism, #oppression, #patriarchy, and #colonialism, as they are hubs of #pollution that disproportionately target and harm the physical and mental health of marginalized groups who face overlapping forms of #oppressions.

According to Helen Huntington Smith, the term was first used in the U.S. discussing the long-term effects of #StripMining #coal in the American West in the 1970s. The National Academy of Sciences/National Academy of Engineering Study Committee on the Potential for Rehabilitating Lands Surface Mined for Coal in the Western United States produced a 1973 report that introduced the term, finding:

In each zone the probability of rehabilitating an area depends upon the land use objectives, the characteristics of the site, the technology available, and the skill with which this technology is applied. At the extremes, if surface mined lands are declared national sacrifice areas, all ecological zones have a high probability of being successfully rehabilitated. If, however, complete restoration is the objective, rehabilitation in each zone has no probability of success.

Similarly in 1975, Genevieve Atwood wrote in Scientific American:

Surface mining without #reclamation removes the land forever from #productive use; such land can best be classified as a #NationalSacrifice area. With successful reclamation, however, surface mining can become just one of a series of land uses that merely interrupt a current use and then return the land to an equivalent potential productivity or an even higher one.

Huntington Smith wrote in 1975, "The Panel that issued the cautious and scholarly National Academy of Sciences report unwittingly touched off a verbal bombshell" with the phrase National Sacrifice Area; "The words exploded in the Western press overnight. Seized upon by a people who felt themselves being served up as 'national sacrifices', they became a watchword and a rallying cry." The term sparked public debate, including among #environmentalists and politicians such as future Colorado governor Richard Lamm.

The term continued to be used in the context of strip mining until at least 1999: '#WestVirginia has become an environmental sacrifice zone'."

  20. We've discovered productivity that comes with solitude. No interruptions, no phone calls, just focused attention on what matters most. Night shift builds dreams.
Share this with your fellow midnight builder. They understand why 2 AM feels like prime time.
What hours are you most productive? Different minds work optimally at different times.

  21. We all discover that perfect position where everything feels right - lighting, access, tool arrangement. These productive spaces can't be replicated, only discovered through experience.
Tag someone whose workspace setup inspires envy. Organization enables efficiency when done thoughtfully.
Where in your garage do you do your best work? Some locations just feel right for creation.

I've spent the #morning on #coding and #implementing a #math problem that tries to find #candidates that break #collatzconjecture ... If you are thinking about this problem, go and touch grass and do something way more #productive with your time.

  24. I have the worst sleep schedule in the world.

I also run a small business on #etsy.

I spent my night making #fuckspez stickers, and #joinlemmy stickers.

I also started a #rose oil steeping, to be used in making a rose #salve in a few weeks.

Oh, and I started testing my #pumpkinspice sugar scrub.

Later today, after I eventually crash out and sleep will be creating more #candles, and crocheting some dish cloths.

Who knows, maybe I'll end up making some #bracelets later, too.
