Good morning. 🌞🌤️🌦️
6 September 2026
I’ve realized that if I’d stop putting off things that don’t actually need doing right away, I’d probably get a lot more done. I’ve become a master procrastinator. The funny thing is that, up until a few years ago, you might’ve thought I had OCD the way I was always in motion. Now I only spring into action when something feels urgent. I still do a better job than some folks though — I think.
These days I’m more interested in doing what I want to do rather than what I need to do, even if what I want to do is absolutely nothing. Somehow “doing nothing” has climbed pretty high on my list of priorities. In fact, as I’m typing this, I’m thinking about me and Charlie heading out to the porch so I can sit in a rocking chair and sip coffee. Charlie doesn’t rock or sip, of course, but he’s perfectly happy just hanging out with me.
I really should deal with the weeds growing in the gravel around the house. Maybe I’ll wait for winter to kill them off, or maybe I’ll hire someone. God, I’m lazy. I did get out and trim the sidewalks and driveway a few days ago, so that’s something. And today would be the perfect day to pull weeds — the rain loosened everything up. But we’ll see. I’ve already prioritized coffee on the porch.
In the back of my mind there’s a small worry about what happens if something takes me out of the picture and I don’t have everything squared away. But honestly, at that point it becomes somebody else’s problem. I’m not there yet, though, and I’m also not ready to spend whatever time I’ve got left obsessing over chores. I’d rather enjoy the morning, the coffee, and Charlie’s company — weeds be damned.

I think I prefer procrastinating on my PC because when I clean/tidy up files, code etc there, it stays that way - very unlike anything I clean/tidy up in the household

Starting #stouturday with light fare, laundry, and wardriving. Reverse order, of course.
#destihlBrewery Moonjumper milk #stout
A basic milk stout, malty chocolate with a bit of sweetness. Silky mouthfeel but a bit thin.

The mister is off to a black tie event tonight, so I have activated my store of knowledge on the arcane arts of ironing. There is something highly pleasing about getting all those little pleats on the front of a tuxedo shirt neatly and tidily and starchily and crisply in line.
A wise friend of mine asserts that ironing is the best chore: starts off clean, ends up clean. I agree.

There's a lot of oxygen in my blood, my heart rate is good, and I'm currently relaxed on my day off before errands and chores begin. We'll see if that continues... it's still early in the day, week, and new month of June.

Co-living is about living well with housemates, intergenerational homes and in intentional communities like eco-villages. Basically anything beyond the modernist nuclear family setup.
Does anyone have any resources around co-living from getting started zines to resources on setting up good housemates decision making practices.
Increasingly folks around me are exploring different configurations for living together and it raises questions around how to do this well.
Keen for resources!!!

🇳🇱 Goedemorgen #koffie #klusjes
Mevrouw ElBee moet vandaag werken, dus de residente vijfjarige en ik gaan boodschappen doen en zijn speelgoed opruimen.
Nu nog even bedenken wat we de komende dagen 's avonds zullen eten 🤔
🇬🇧 Good morning #coffee #chores
Mrs ElBee has to work today, so the resident five year old will go and shop for groceries and put away his toys.
Now I have to think about what we'll have for dinner the next few days 🤔

Straks met de residente kleuter naar de kapper. Hij wil hetzelfde kapsel als zijn vriendje even verderop uit de straat 'met groene en blauwe verf!' 😅
🇬🇧 Good morning 🙂 #coffee #chores
I'm taking the resident 4 year old to the barber's later this morning. He wants the same hairdo as his friend down the street 'with green and blue colouring!' 😅

🇳🇱 Goedemorgen 🙂 #koffie #klusjes
Vandaag ga ik het plankje voor het toilet eindelijk maar eens ophangen. Dat staat al meer dan tien jaar op zolder 🥴
#HelpIkBenGeenKlusser
🇬🇧 Good morning 🙂 #coffee #choresToday I'll finally put up the shelf in our toilet, which has been tucked away in the attic for over ten years 🥴

🇳🇱 Goedemorgen 🙂 #koffie
Vandaag staan er alweer wat #klusjes in huis op het programma en vanmiddag moeten er twee fietsen naar de fietsenmaker voor onderhoud.
🇬🇧 Good morning 🙂 #coffee
For today I have again planned some #chores around the house and this afternoon I have to take two bikes to the bike shop for maintenance.
