  1. Not much done so far today, mowed the lawn and fed m'self. I will need to clean up the kitchen before it gets classified as a Superfund site.
Ordered internet from AT&T, a replacement for my Verizon 5G, the big step towards cutting costs. We had Verizon everything, even some TV services through them, but with my husband's passing, I've been looking at alternatives. For the last few months I've been using his number on Tello as a test, since I use a lot data there, and it has to be reliable, and its been just that and cheap. Once the new net is in place, I'll transfer my personal number over and retire his, and cancel everything Verizon.
Oh, and as you can see from the pic, I've moved my watch back to my left wrist. Sometimes the metal buckles make my wrist break out, but this doesn't have any, so it should be fine. It is however a bit loose on this wrist, so I guess I'll have to order medium (155mm) for my left and stay with large (165mm) for the right.
All that's left is to set things up with the AC company.

  2. We did our garbage run. ATV with farm cart hauling wheeled garbage and recycle pail containers 2 miles on gravel to the "curb." Pups riding in a milk crate fastened to the front rack. 15 gallon weed sprayer on the back rack. A pair of cherry lugs fastened to the front rack for various equipment I use when working in the yard. I passed two neighbors coming back from the same chore. I do a garbage run every 2 weeks when I'm home. This is the first in about 6 weeks. #chores #RuralLiving

  9. 'Lewis takes up a debate with several Black feminists who have, at various times, questioned the idea of family abolition, whose central argument has been that, very often, Black families have been sites of resistance against racism. Similarly, we could point to many experiences of class struggle in which sectors of working families have played a key role against the attacks of capital: supporting strikes, establishing relations of solidarity between factories and neighborhoods, staging rent strikes, maintaining soup kitchens, creating movements in defense of public services, and many other forms of resistance. The tradition of “women’s commissions” in strikes, for example, has allowed the working class to articulate fighting forces far beyond the workplace.

'To this criticism Lewis responds that, even so, we should not cease working for the abolition of the family, since we would not need its “protective shield” if we managed to build a society without racism. The argument contains a grain of truth, but it stops halfway. It fails to contemplate the role that the family relations within sectors of the working class and oppressed can play in moments of heightened class struggle. On another level, it doesn’t account for the fact that capitalism, while it needs such a “social cell” for its own reproduction, constantly undermines working families’ very conditions of existence. Marx and Engels remarked on this in the mid-19th century, pointing to the length of the working day, the lack of decent housing, and the general precariousness of working class life.'

  19. Rain has been threatening all afternoon, but I managed to get a ladder out and rip out the old flood-lamp.

It would come on during the day, and would often flicker badly.

Anyway, glad to get that done and into eWaste recycling pile.

  24. So, what's on the docket today?
Not much, really only one thing with a lot of optionals that are just gotta get done this weekend, which happens to be a four day weekend.
    Today, prep for flea market
Tomorrow, vend @ flea market… If'n you're in or around St Louis, consider making a shopping trip to Sunset Hills Community Center, look for Happy Hive Resale if'n you want to hunt me down.
Weekend, above plus household finances (done), laundry (doing today while I prep), prep husband's e-bike for sale, grocery shopping, clean shed, household cleaning

Fairly light weekend over all really, not entirely sure what I'm going to do with m'self with so much free time.
Oh, and if'n you're in the STL area, we've a few things too big for the flea market for sale, generator and the aforementioned e-bike, as well as clothing for charity if anyone wants to pick up,

  33. Being “normal”

I've always felt like I was different from all the others. I thought differently, I sensed differently, I moved differently, I loved differently... But, this is not really about my mental state of being. Well, it is, but not directly. It plays a part of it all, as I do believe that my different way of thinking also makes me feel this way about me, trying to be normal. What I mean with being normal is: living a life like I am "supposed" to be living it. Doing the things that one is supposed to do on a daiy basis. Not just eating, sleeping, visiting the loo. But also in the way of running a household, even though it's "just"a household of one... (8 more sleeps... then Koa will be joining me! 🤎). […]
