Good morning. 🌞🌤️🌦️
6 September 2026
I’ve realized that if I’d stop putting off things that don’t actually need doing right away, I’d probably get a lot more done. I’ve become a master procrastinator. The funny thing is that, up until a few years ago, you might’ve thought I had OCD the way I was always in motion. Now I only spring into action when something feels urgent. I still do a better job than some folks though — I think.
These days I’m more interested in doing what I want to do rather than what I need to do, even if what I want to do is absolutely nothing. Somehow “doing nothing” has climbed pretty high on my list of priorities. In fact, as I’m typing this, I’m thinking about me and Charlie heading out to the porch so I can sit in a rocking chair and sip coffee. Charlie doesn’t rock or sip, of course, but he’s perfectly happy just hanging out with me.
I really should deal with the weeds growing in the gravel around the house. Maybe I’ll wait for winter to kill them off, or maybe I’ll hire someone. God, I’m lazy. I did get out and trim the sidewalks and driveway a few days ago, so that’s something. And today would be the perfect day to pull weeds — the rain loosened everything up. But we’ll see. I’ve already prioritized coffee on the porch.
In the back of my mind there’s a small worry about what happens if something takes me out of the picture and I don’t have everything squared away. But honestly, at that point it becomes somebody else’s problem. I’m not there yet, though, and I’m also not ready to spend whatever time I’ve got left obsessing over chores. I’d rather enjoy the morning, the coffee, and Charlie’s company — weeds be damned.

I think I prefer procrastinating on my PC because when I clean/tidy up files, code etc there, it stays that way - very unlike anything I clean/tidy up in the household

Starting #stouturday with light fare, laundry, and wardriving. Reverse order, of course.

A basic milk stout, malty chocolate with a bit of sweetness. Silky mouthfeel but a bit thin.

🥳 Wow, someone finally found a way to make #mathematics sound like a #household chore. "Matryoshka vs. PCA" sounds like the title of a bad sitcom where nobody laughs, but at least we learn that shrinking #embeddings is as exciting as watching paint dry. 📉🔍

Doing all the things…
...that I think I "need" to keep doing... Following "the rules", doing the same thing over and over, and never thinking it really matters... 😔 And then wondering why I keep doing it... Every time I think I'm done, it all "just" starts over again. 😢 And I know that this is the same for everyone. But, some moments, I just struggle so much with it, because I feel so exhausted, that I don't want to do it anymore... 😔 Why should I try to clean, when it will get dirty again? Why should I try to become more healthy? I'll mess up again, and get all obese and out-of-shape again... Why do I want to get new things, when I can't seem to enjoy things I have? 😢 […]https://cynnisblog.wordpress.com/2026/08/07/doing-all-the-things/

Washing machine finishes the most recent wash whilst I'm working from home. I can't empty it and put stuff out to dry right now, so I make a mental note do do it in a little bit.
As soon as I make this decision, the machine disappears from existence. The washing never existed. I don't think about the washing until the end of the day.
Upon remembering the washing (now damp smelling), I set the washing machine off again. It will be ready before bedtime.
Guess what happens, everyone? Guess.
I'm doing the laundry again tomorrow morning.
The cycle continues.
