Writing a few words to get back in blogging shape. There’s been a lot keeping me busy and as soon as I sat down to write, my dog starting puking on the floor. For the last month I’ve been recovering from the acupuncture cure of Alpha Gal and don’t know how long before then I was dealing with the symptoms of meat allergy. For months I was complaining about the quality of ground beef at the grocery store, in reality I was probably having allergic reactions. The first time I got Alpha gal, it hit so hard that my entire life shut down. When it was cured, I acted like it never happened. Mentally I couldn’t acknowledge what happened. At the same time I was struggling with some mystery illnesses for years, now I believe those were allergic reactions from eating meat. Now that the acupuncture is out and I’m feeling better, I don’t plan to eat beef, pork, or lamb ever again with hopes that will give me new life. These are my first days back and I’m making plans for my future. In the Fall, for the first time all kids will be in daycare and I’ll get another part of my life back. My show has been going well and I’m proud of how the interviews came out. My plan is to turn my recording into an AI self that can read my blog writings as a script to create daily videos. One attempt at AI cloning was already made and failed, my thinking was that everything was too complicated, so I’ve been figuring out how to simplify things for take two.

I had a nasty face-plant into a wall last week, and spent much of the last 10days with a cervical collar, healing a neck sprain, and some face damage.
Thankfully I'm mostly healed, other than a sore knee that has been cutting into my afternoon-walk opportunities.
Ready for spring activities once I'm done with this.
Good reminder not to take one's #health for granted - it can change pretty suddenly.

2025 Year in Review | A Quieter, More Intentional Year

Rainbow’s Week, Sept 18 2025
So, this is not exactly a weekly update, huh? The last one was September 7, 11 days ago. Oh well. This one can be Rainbow’s Almost-Fortnight.
To say hi, my name is Azure, and I’m a member of a plural system, which means multiple people in one bodymind. We share the name Rainbow and they/them pronouns. We are multiply disabled (autism, PTSD, ME/CFS, and others) and require assistive devices and caregivers.
This week-and-a-bit was actually even rougher than the previous week. I got majorly triggered twice again, and my executive dysfunction issues are even worse now. I think it’s because I changed depression medications. This new one does not seem to be doing much.
To follow up on the previous update:
1. The tasking hour did not work out. We can’t even handle an hour a day of tasks.
2. I’m still frontstuck (stuck in charge of the body).
3. The hair washing idea worked out! It actually works really well. I’m so glad.
New happenings:
1. I’ve been video calling a lot with people we’re close to. We’ve figured out a way to accommodate our autistic burnout: they speak, and we type. It requires a bit of gymnastics on Discord (I’ve been doing two browser windows side by side).
2. Four whole medical appointments and a vaccination (yay vaccines). I’m so tired. At least everyone accommodated our need to type instead of speak without question! I wish our phone had a louder speaker, sigh.
3. Lots of special interest time!! I’ve been working on our personal website, researching and using paid survey sites and stuff (which is, weirdly enough, a special interest), making spreadsheets, and writing blog posts about the survey/etc. sites.
Website: Since the previous “Rainbow’s week” update, using only online articles so far (as opposed to one-on-one help), I’ve added an RSS feed, a comment widget from online, blog post tags and tag sorting (coded manually), a custom domain, and a favicon (Wikipedia link). I have tried and failed to add mobile optimization… maybe later. I’m told it’s readable on mobile as is. Here is the website if you want to look at it!
Paid survey sites: I’ve been really excited about this! It certainly isn’t a well-paid job, but for what it is and how accessible it is to me, I’m impressed by how much I’ve earned so far. And I’ve just been having fun with it! I made a spreadsheet to track each site/app each day, just because I wanted to. I had fun with the functions.
Blog posts: I’ve only written one new one since last “Rainbow’s Week” update, but I’ve been updating the one I wrote last week. Now there are six sites/apps listed, with HTML anchors so it’s possible to click on a link at the top of the page and jump partway down the page. I think that’s cool! Yay organization!
Thank you for reading! I hope your week was okay!

12.01.2024 Been a while, haven’t done much art stuff lately

A general statement:
Coming into the year, my goal was to address my credit card debt, especially given the political and economic uncertainty. By the end of this year, I will have reduced it by nearly 50%, which puts me in a much better position moving forward.
My desktop - an aging Dell - is slowly dying. It’s a Windows 11 machine, and has frequent hiccups and the occasional game crash. I need/want to replace it.
As someone with, uh… *certain* political and ethical views, I’m going to go open source as much as I can. Windows sucks, and I’m tired of spyware in the guise of questionably valuable AI.
To that end, I’m looking at desktops made by System76 and CachyOS (an Arch-based gaming Linux distribution).
As a companion to ^^^ I also want to get a NAS (Network Attached Storage for the non-nerdy). I’m tired (and, again, given the current climate, distrustful) of having a few mission critical things saved in Dropbox.
Put more simply: my goal is to have more control over *my* technology as I upgrade. I do still want to stream again, but I’m wary given my current PC instability. I’d much rather have a more stable foundation upon which to do it.
So, there you go. That’s my goal for 2026. It’s obviously dependent on other factors (health, whether or not the US is, you know, *still here*), but I need something to work towards and look forward to for my own mental health.
Thanks for coming to my TEDtalk 😂

Likes 3 Good Things, an exercise in joy – Sylvia’s Noodling Nook. A bit more joy on the Internet, yay! I’m obviously not going to do daily (posting here monthly is already a struggle) but here’s one for this week still: went to my city’s lovely outdoor swimming pool before it closes on September 1st…

#update #PersonalUpdate Haven't been posting lately because I've been SUPER busy, not because anything bad is going on - well, that kind of is, too, but the main reason is that I'm in the middle of doing a show a night until Sunday, and all of these require a lot of #prep ...so I've been in head-down mode. I will reemerge next week in all likelihood. -
overinformation cleanup
I have been overwhelmed recently, so I followed some of Tracy's practices:
Removed my RSS Reader from my phone's home screen (but not from the app menu, for now)
Unsubscribed from all large news sources and signed up for their weekly newsletter instead (wherever possible, I will receive the newsletter in my RSS Reader). That's L'Équipe, Les Jours, Le Monde and Libération

My goals for 2025
I don't really do goals.
Or rather, I make a giant list of more or less important and ambitious goals in December, try things out, and re-prioritize somewhere around my birthday (end of March) for what will be the closest thing there is to an actual yearly goals list.
For 2024, I had 8 goals. I achieved two, failed one, and the other five just… disappeared. On December 25, 2024, I can report

massive updates on my Now page
it's funny all that can happen in a month.
nothing too life-changing, just several changes where I usually update just one detail.
check it out: https://alexsirac.com/now/
and see you probably tomorrow for the monthly review, because today is shaping up to be hectic (and because I still haven't bothered to install Obsidian on my work computer)

I’m leaving Meta
Yesterday was my last day at Meta after nearly six years there (whoa!). It’s been an incredible journey during which I’ve learned so much − about localization, the tech industry, and myself as well.
A short look back
Starting as a Localization Editor was my first deep dive into understanding what makes French audiences unique for businesses. (Did this make me even more insufferably proud of my nat -
Auditing my social media use and news consumption
I'm following Elizabeth's example here, as I think her template is excellent and very easy to follow. My relationship to news and social media has drastically changed in the past couple of years, and I'm happy to say I've been having a much more positive approach to social media especially − I was extremely addicted and active a

100 day challenge: no more squats, hello photos
After 28 completed days of the « 100 squats per day » challenge, I have to stop. I started the challenge to gain muscle in my legs and reinforce my knee, which went great for a few weeks. Now, my knee is hurting again, clearly because it's too tired. It needs rest, and a 100-day challenge around one muscle set was not a

Torche olympique
