I dreamed about three of my characters, two I played in one ttrpg and another was a mmo character; anyway - the story the dream spun out was 100% different for the characters, and I kinda enjoyed the drama and setting it played with - but now I'm looking at it, it'd be a whole book on it's own and ... [sighs] too many ideas, not a real writer, ya'know?

This article (which is what we used to call actual idea-containing blog posts), called "The Rise of Whatever", has been making the rounds over the last few days.

It is, frankly, excellent. It is closer to my own feelings about "AI" / LLM than anything I've seen written by anyone else. I have despaired over the last couple of years as I saw the number of people I respected who somehow started accepting what this article refers to as the beige sludge that LLMs produce.

If you're an engineer or software developer, it's a must read. Or if you use "AI" in your own work, or in your own personal time. Or if you listen to the hucksters selling "AI", which you must be doing, because it's bloody impossible to go a day without hearing some fucking stupid thing that Sam Altman has shat onto the internet and called it wisdom.

Basically, everyone should read it. Unless they're actually three LLMs in a trenchcoat.

Apart from a very short poem that kept me awake last night until I wrote it down, my current writing is the legalese text for a lasting power of attorney, the first draft of an annual report for a disability charity, a packing list, and notes for a conversation about funeral planning and choices for a terminally ill friend.
None of which is fiction.

Day 22-31. My brain stopped working and while I coasted for a while, I finally stopped writing. I'm okay with that. I still want to finish the story.

Today, I was able to recover some documents created on a Mac OS 7 almost 30 years ago. I think it was written in MacWrite.

The format was weird, but LibreOffice opened them with no issues. I have now recovered a story cycle from my college days. Soecifically, these are all the stories from universe 4 Numbers I.

This is archeology, not writing, but it could lead to more writing.
