I dreamed about three of my characters, two I played in one ttrpg and another was a mmo character; anyway - the story the dream spun out was 100% different for the characters, and I kinda enjoyed the drama and setting it played with - but now I'm looking at it, it'd be a whole book on it's own and ... [sighs] too many ideas, not a real writer, ya'know?

This article (which is what we used to call actual idea-containing blog posts), called "The Rise of Whatever", has been making the rounds over the last few days.

It is, frankly, excellent. It is closer to my own feelings about "AI" / LLM than anything I've seen written by anyone else. I have despaired over the last couple of years as I saw the number of people I respected who somehow started accepting what this article refers to as the beige sludge that LLMs produce.
If you're an engineer or software developer, it's a must read. Or if you use "AI" in your own work, or in your own personal time. Or if you listen to the hucksters selling "AI", which you must be doing, because it's bloody impossible to go a day without hearing some fucking stupid thing that Sam Altman has shat onto the internet and called it wisdom.
Basically, everyone should read it. Unless they're actually three LLMs in a trenchcoat.

Apart from a very short poem that kept me awake last night until I wrote it down, my current writing is the legalese text for a lasting power of attorney, the first draft of an annual report for a disability charity, a packing list, and notes for a conversation about funeral planning and choices for a terminally ill friend.

Day 22-31. My brain stopped working and while I coasted for a while, I finally stopped writing. I'm okay with that. I still want to finish the story.
Meanwhile, ooh something shiny! I want to write about an alien isekaied into a telenovela (I have an outline, this is a real threat), and also do a version of AU-gust.

My current approach to figuring out a good angle for my paper is to go for a walk and sit on the bench overlooking this fantastic meadow.

Why is it that my mind comes with wonderfully entertaining prose with exciting plot and style WHEN MY HANDS ARE BUSY COOKING AND I CAN'T WRITE IT DOWN?!?
I mean nice we got food prepped for a week but WHAT HAPPENS TO MATT IN THE FOSTERSYSTEM THO, WHY IS ONE OF THE PARENTS A LITERAL WIZARD, AND WILL PERSONIFICATION OF LITERAL FATE GET IT'S 🪅🪆🪁🧨 TOGETHER??

Today, I was able to recover some documents created on a Mac OS 7 almost 30 years ago. I think it was written in MacWrite.
The format was weird, but LibreOffice opened them with no issues. I have now recovered a story cycle from my college days. Soecifically, these are all the stories from universe 4 Numbers I.
This is archeology, not writing, but it could lead to more writing.

I’ve been trying so hard to write something today, but I’m a bit sick and my brain refuses to come up with any coherent thought whatsoever. I guess it’s time to call it a day and settle in with a nice cup of tea and a good book.

I did surprisingly well today for very little sleep. I managed a bunch of appointments, phone calls, a gym workout, and even made supper. I plan on getting some writing done tomorrow. Hopefully, I can make up for all the lost time this week. I’ve been itching to write for days and the fates conspire against me. #Writing #NotWriting

Feels like another one of those days where I'm like "I want to write!" and "I want to read!" and "I want to start outlining my novel!"
And my brain is just like "eh, nah."
The scheduling my day thing isn't breaking through it either.

This is why I am not going to resume writing my #WIP right now: sugaring.
For those unfamiliar it is the act of making maple syrup. Which requires paying attention to the weather; at the right time drilling holes in the trees and tapping the, ah, spigots and hanging the buckets and emptying the buckets and boiling down the sap 40 gallons to make one gallon of syrup.
But February thinks it’s March so today I tapped 20 trees the earliest ever.

It's impressive, the bubbling optimism of someone doing their first ever round of novel queries. If only they knew. After twenty years of querying novels, and failing, I've given up. A novel is a massive time investment for something that goes nowhere. It's poetry, articles and non-fiction for me from this point on. Admission of failure or acceptance of reality, take your pick. #writing #notWriting #fiction

I write #romance with #fantasy and #scifi bents, as well as #ContemporaryRomance. I count myself part of #Romancelandia and the #WritingCommunity.
I'm currently working on three projects, one in each genre, and planning on #SelfPublishing eventually.

Hey there, I see you: I’m also #NotWriting and that’s valid.
Me, I’m going through multiple once-in-a-decade life changes all at once, and that means I’m not writing while I get my feet under me.
Some #writers would also write through this! That’s not where I am.
Some #writers won’t write through much less drastic periods. That is valid too!
Burnout is real, rest is real, change is energy and time; just one thing can mean #NotWriting.
We’ll start again when it’s time. ❤️
