  1. After much trial and tribulation (failed updates, lack of support, ect.), a few more #SBC have been regulated to collecting dust today ... They will most likely not be remembered fondly or at all:

    #MangoPiQuad
    #OrangePiZero2W
    #RaspberryPiZero2W
    #MilkVMars

  2. I am still tinkering with the #MangoPiQuad. I think I got a good understanding of #JWM and #Compton. Also had to play with a bunch of web browsers to see what works best and is fully functional (so that I can #toot); so far #Epiphany has worked the best on this low powered machine (but just barely 😬).

  6. Super Tux Kart at 2 FPS?! Sign me up!

This #MangoPiQuad is punching past its weight class :BlobCatBlepClose:

  7. @rl_dane @orbitalmartian Falkon works great. Firefox uses too many resources on the #MangoPiQuad. I also have Dillo too, but some sites don’t play nice on Dillo

  8. Here are how things are looking so far on the #JWM setup on the #mangopiquad.

I have to say, I have actually been enjoying this process.

  11. So in my hubris I decided to move from stable to testing on the #mangopiquad. Well, in short it broke all my configs or what not.

Did a fresh #Debian install as well as #JWM and #Compton. The transparency effects are now better looking things are running smoother.

More tweaks will be needed, but things are getting there and I am getting more practice with configs.

  13. Okay, I think I have #JWM set up as close to ideal (for now) as I can get it. I installed #Compton for transparency effects; this upped my memory use on the #mangopiquad but it was worth it. I could still run #Clementine, #Kpat, and #Dillo at the same time, so I am good. :Debian: #Debian #armhf

  14. Since the kiddo is home sick, it's time to learn some #JWM in the down times. So far it has been pretty straight forward. I will say running it on a #mangopiquad (#armhf) has made it trickier to set up; most tutorials/videos I have found are ppl running JWM on #X86.

So far with #Clementine, #Btop, and #Kpat running I am on average around 65% ram use, 20 to 40% cpu use, and temps averaging around 69 (nice) freedom units.

  15. Some techie updates:

    The #Good:
Switched the 2015 #MacBook over to vanilla #Fedora from #Silverblue. I kept running into issues with programs freezing and a few just not working. Troubleshooting was just too much of a hassle on Silverblue so I made the very easy switch.

    The #Bad:
After lots of tinkering with the #MangoPiQuad, I think it is pretty much dead to me. It has done the heinous act of no longer being fun. So it is off to a drawer to collect dust (which is a fate less worse than the e-recycling bin like a few other #SBC met)

    The #Ugly:
My place of employment has forced me over to #Windows11 🤢🤮🪦

  16. I may do some more tweaking in the future, but I am pretty happy with how things turned out on .

So far it has been a pretty usable lil system. Web browsing is on par with old dial-up. Besides that, after an app opens they seem to be quite responsive/snappy.

Now I am glad I my MangoPi Quad as I do not think I would have looked into the Trinity DE.

  17. I installed the and I have to say it gives so tight competition. At idle my ram use is lower than LXDE and when using native apps the ram use stays fairly low.

As for look, Trinity just looks better has more customization options, AND has integration.

I will post a screenshot once I am done tweaking things to my liking.

  18. I have lessened the amount of with the . I just installed a dual fan heatsink; fans are now secured unlike the previous on that was just chillin. Here is the before and after.

Currently both fans are blowing up. I might tweak it a bit to see if I can get the temps a bit lower. On average running at 48 degrees which is 2 above the larger single fan.

  19. While I was at it, I checked to see if , , and if were available in the basic/standard repos at this time. In short, no.

So for the time being, it is on the

  20. I did some different dock testing on the . I am running 12 with Openbox. So far my base RAM usage with is around 30 to 32% with a basic dock and system monitoring widget.

I tried for a hot minute. Plank doesn’t have widgets like Cairo, so I lost the system monitoring function. I paired Plank with and was averaging 40 to 44% RAM use.

I looked into but that will be for another day. I too tired to do text configurations.

  21. I spent a good chunk of the day slimming down my Debian install on the . I moved from (and uninstalled) to . I wholesale uninstalled many preinstalled apps (such as Libre Office, Emacs, Bluez, and much, much more).

I installed and I gotta say, it is running smooth. I am even able to run with out maxing out the CPU or RAM!

All in all, its been a good day.
