Oh, I almost missed the new Armorphis single. How fitting that a band that has often sung about the Kalevala is now contributing to the film soundtrack. It's also cool that Tomi's daughter is contributing.
I wonder if a new career is about to begin?

If the Kalevala had not been translated into English, Tolkien might never have gotten into it. Galadriel would talk funny.
If the Kalevala had not been translated into Swedish, Finns themselves might not have gotten into their own national epic. Akseli Gallen-Kallela would have had so much spare time.
In the last Filtrit-video of the year I go through a history of translations of the Kalevala, and compare three different English translations of a specific poem, "The Battle of the Sampo" (Kirby, Magoun, Bosley).

@Edent not directly the same but in the ancient Finnish #Kalevala poems there is the story of #Sampo, a magical machine that creates money and wealth. Wars are then fought over it. Kind of like society nowadays, really…
Also a more direct, similar one to yours is the sci-fi story #Autofac by #PhilipKDick, which I really enjoyed.
