Simply Because Day
Ci sono giornate dedicate a cause importantissime. E poi c’è lei: la Giornata del “Semplicemente Così”, celebrata ogni anno il 27 agosto. Una festa che, già dal nome, ci invita a non complicarci troppo la vita: oggi possiamo fare qualcosa senza una ragione precisa, senza programmi e soprattutto senza doverlo spiegare a nessuno!
Perché esiste? La risposta ufficiale sembra essere perfettamente in tema: semplicemente così! Le sue origini vengono generalmente ricondotte agli Stati Uniti e alla volontà di Joseph J. Goodwin, già dalla fine degli anni Cinquanta, di celebrare il piacere delle piccole azioni spontanee.
Nel 2026? Facciamo quello che ci va!
Il 27 agosto 2026 cade di giovedì, quindi niente scuse: possiamo concederci una piccola follia anche in mezzo alla settimana.
Comprare quei fiori senza aspettare un compleanno? Semplicemente così.
Indossare l’abito elegante anche per andare a prendere il pane? Semplicemente così.
Telefonare a un’amica dopo mesi e dirle soltanto “mi sei venuta in mente”? Semplicemente così.
Prendere un gelato perché abbiamo voglia di gelato, e non perché “ce lo siamo meritati”? Assolutamente sì!
La filosofia della giornata è proprio questa: uscire, almeno per qualche ora, dal pilota automatico e regalarci un gesto spontaneo. Anche una piccola sorpresa, un complimento, un messaggio gentile o un regalo inatteso possono trasformare una giornata qualunque in una giornata un po’ più bella.
La moda? Naturalmente partecipa!
E qui, noi di Perfettamente Chic, non possiamo tirarci indietro.
Perché vestirsi bene soltanto quando c’è un’occasione?
Nel 2026 la vera occasione potrebbe essere proprio nessuna occasione.
Un rossetto rosso di martedì mattina, una gonna speciale per una passeggiata, il profumo preferito anche se non dobbiamo uscire o quella borsa che custodiamo gelosamente nell’armadio: oggi tutto è concesso.
Del resto, se ci chiedono: “Perché sei così elegante?”
La risposta è pronta:
Semplicemente così.
E non serve aggiungere altro.
Il piccolo lusso di oggi
La Giornata del “Semplicemente Così” ci ricorda una cosa semplice ma preziosa: non tutto deve avere una funzione, una spiegazione o una ricompensa.
A volte possiamo fare qualcosa solo perché ci rende felici.
Quindi, il 27 agosto, proviamo a regalare un sorriso, mandare un messaggio inaspettato, comprare un fiore, ascoltare una canzone a tutto volume o concederci quella piccola cosa che continuiamo a rimandare.
Senza motivo.
Senza sensi di colpa.
Semplicemente così. 💐✨
E se qualcuno ci chiede perché?
Beh… semplicemente così! 😄

The bit that you skip #210: Jane’s Addiction – Just Because
Jane’s Addiction is like Francium: scarce, radioactive, and with a half-life of 22 minutes or so. With just four albums in the span of almost 4 decades, the band’s constant break-ups makes it hard to be a hardcore fan of the band.
Nothing’s shocking and Ritual de lo habitual were massive commercial hits for the band. Mountain Song and Been Caught Stealing were everywhere, and I clearly remember during the first years of FTP servers with MP3s you could find a marching band tribute to Been Caught Stealing. Never knew where that one came from, but it was amusing.
As talented as the band members were, the tensions were always there, and the inevitable breakups after the Ritual de lo Habitual tour was a long thing coming. The band did reunite in 1997 for a quick tour (without Eric Avery), and would eventually release a third album in 2003, called Strays.
Just Because is a tremendous single, but the video always felt like a sanitized version of Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Warped, which also featured Dave Navarro pulling all stops on guitar. A rare guitar hit in an era where Drop-D and punishing your guitar with Top Shop bracelets seemed to be the norm in Rock. It was a refreshing, sonically-expansive song and I do have fond memories of rocking out to it at a couple of joints in Nottingham. It was my last months and I really wanted to live as fully as possible in the place. Nice dream.
So, 13 years for a third album, then another 8 for a final fourth. Then another 13 years and the band disbanded after Perry attacked Navarro on stage. It’s a shame that Jane’s Addiction ended like this.

What happened was that networks were built, and when the germans wanted to round up the jews, the network was able to get the warning out to many, and arrange transport.
