  1. A quotation from Emerson

A man should learn to detect and watch that gleam of light which flashes across his mind from within, more than the lustre of the firmament of bards and sages. Yet he dismisses without notice his thought, because it is his.
In every work of genius we recognize our own rejected thoughts; they come back to us with a certain alienated majesty. Great works of art have no more affecting lesson for us than this. They teach us to abide by our spontaneous impression with good-humored inflexibility then most when the whole cry of voices is on the other side. Else to-morrow a stranger will say with masterly good sense precisely what we have thought and felt all the time, and we shall be forced to take with shame our own opinion from another.

Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882) American essayist, lecturer, poet
Essay (1841), “Self-Reliance,” Essays: First Series, No. 2

  11. Understanding Trade: Beyond Tariffs and Goods

The modern landscape of trade extends beyond tangible goods to complex legal frameworks governing cross-border interactions. Free Trade Agreements act as regulatory blueprints, influencing economies and societies globally. Power now resides in the hands of those defining standards and compliance, shaping how trade affects growth, migration, and inclusion.

  15. 🤔 Ah yes, another riveting exploration into the soul of software companies, where predictability is king and #spontaneity is the court jester. 📈 Remember folks, #efficiency is just a minor casualty in the war for #transparency, because who needs #adaptability when you have an endless spreadsheet of metrics? 🙃

  16. #Chán #Buddhism in #China emerged through dynamic interaction with #Daoism and #Confucianism. #Daoist concepts like #spontaneity, non-action, and receptivity shaped Chán’s style and practice, while Confucianism influenced #ethics and social structure. In this post, we briefly examine, who Chán remained distinctly Buddhist, yet deeply adapted to Chinese thought:

  17. Embrace the uncertainty

Ever since Werner Heisenberg formulated the uncertainty principle, physics has been grappling with the unsettling realization that the universe does not function like clockwork—a metaphor Newton introduced and which held sway for centuries. In a world where predictability and uncertainty intertwine, interpretations range from die-hard determinists, who reject quantum events despite the mounting evidence, to more esoteric merchants of doubt who exploit the ambiguity.

    If Werner Heisenberg […]

  18. 📸 Capturing the beauty of spontaneity! 🌸

The laughter, the dreamy gazes, books under their arms, and the energy of those who’ve just finished school: photographing young girls on the street in these moments is pure magic. ✨ Each shot tells a unique story, a moment of freedom and lightness. 🏫💫

46:06 "The next time I see you remind me not to talk with you, will you?

This is the spirit of #spontaneity and #improvisation. They were testing stuff out and to me it's obvious that here they were testing things and this is also sort of an in-joke between actors. Maybe not but at least it gave me an impression of that it might be something like that. One actor thinking the other actor's #creativity was too #mundane and responded.

Then they decided to keep it in!

  20. It is pure fantasy to think that you could have done things differently or lived your life any other way.

This dream of an imagined past feeds an equally unhelpful delusion of the future in which you consciously learn and strive to change ‘yourself’ and do things differently.

All of these behaviours and activities happen, of course, but not as the result of conscious so-called will but automatically and spontaneously from our unconscious.

We do what we do when we do it whatever our conscious awareness may declare to the contrary.

Our thoughts and ideas are the least of us. Always late to the party that’s already in full swing, uninvited yet full of their own self importance and righteousness. Taking credit for everything and responsibility for nothing.

  21. I like to buy flowers for my wife. If I set a fixed reminder to do this on the 1st of every month, it can feel scripted, which takes away from the gesture.

With #Spontaneity, I can set a rolling reminder to buy flowers sometime within the next month, keeping it feeling thoughtful and genuine. When that task is marked completed, then the next reminder is calculated within the following month (with a buffer ensuring two reminders don’t happen too close together).

    1. Landing page setup ✅
    2. Signup via email & signup/login via Apple working via Supabase ✅
    3. Reminders being pulled via Supabase db ✅
    4. Actually cheered out loud and sent my wife a text with the success message when I created the first reminder through the app’s UI 🕺

  23. Hey everyone! It's been 10 days since my last #Spontaneity update, but I'll be sharing plenty this weekend. Here's some highlights:

The good: Made huge strides in development. The app is really taking shape!

The bad: I maaaaaay have neglected the marketing & communcations side a bit. Oops.

Balancing a full-time job, family life, and app development (planning, coding, and marketing) is challenging. Fellow devs, how do you manage it all?

  24. 🚀 Spontaneity Update 2 🚀

Excited to share the latest progress on Spontaneity, my productivity app for individuals with ADHD!

✨ Expanded scope with new features
✨ Data schema set, frontend development in progress
✨ Sneak peek of the home screen
✨ Balancing launch with personal life (baby due in January!)

  25. I'll be drafting up a new blog post going into all the progress made this week in the upcoming days. I don't believe I shared the last blog post here, so if you want to follow along here it is:

  26. Getting the calendar and reminder list to stay in sync, whether you click the calendar or scroll the list, was challenging. It also had to default to today on the reminder list. It took me almost a full day of on-and-off work to figure it out. The animation still needs smoothing out, but I already have an idea for that and have documented it to revisit later.

  27. Here’s a sneak peak of the home screen so far. It’s important to note I still have to finalize the brand color way, but I’m happy with the progress made so far.

  29. Another hectic week! I've been deep in #Spontaneity the past few days and what I'm planning for the initial launch. I'm happy to say I've made enough progress to feel good about expanding the scope for launch.

As far as setting a date for the launch, I have 2 things I'm taking into consideration:

    1. My son is due to be born in January
    2. I don't want to launch right before he's born and then be unable to provide the app with the support it needs.

  31. I notice a funny pattern: the YouTube content I put the most effort into usually gets the worst reaction from the audience. The most spontaneous content performs much better. What is this? Authenticity in action?

  32. #Spontaneity is both blessing and curse. The seed notions sprout mostly in real time as it where. The normal process is supposed to be refine, edit, then post. Refining things live is mostly the result of wanting to get the 1st take down before it vanishes. #Mastodon is not supposed to be a notepad. #Apologies in advance for however annoying this habitual abuse has become

  33. 🧵 1/3 As you told me before, my very first workshop with children (9 yrs old) in our heritage centre was perfect. It was such a joy to experience what most adults suppress: #enthusiasm, #curiosity, #passion to #experiment, thirst for #learning, and #spontaneity. I learnt at least as much from the children as they learnt from us.
My fear of having to keep an eye on everything was unfounded.

  35. "Spontaneity is the quality of being able to do something just because you feel like it at the moment, of trusting your instincts, of taking yourself by surprise and snatching from the clutches of your well-organized routine a bit of unscheduled pleasure." — Richard Iannelli — — — #RichardIannelli #quote #quotes #spontaneity #improvise #surprise #pleasure #joyful #unplanned #inventive
