  1. I am fascinated to see how Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, Citizens Advice Bureau and Help the Aged have been talked into being the defenders of energy companies continuing to do the most shoddy half arsed work possible when it comes to #retrofitting and #insulating the homes of those on low incomes.

Did these charities read the recent National Audit Office report into ECO and GBIS 3 weeks ago that found that 98% of external wall insulation installs done by these two schemes need repairs???

  6. 5. Only would have done the work I did with a FLIR, otherwise it would be difficult (if not impossible) to determine where to inject the foam.
    6. Better to drill two holes than one, the second hole (higher) releases air from the cavity and allows the foam to expand better. if you have a very leaky wall, not as much of a consideration.
    7. "Gorilla Foam" was a failure vs. fresh "Great Stuff", but i had a number of dud "Great Stuff" cans, too. #insulating #insulation #weatherization #foam

  11. In earlier times, our forebear’s concept of #heating was more localized: 🔥heating people, not places.🔥

They used #radiant heat sources that warmed only certain parts of a room, creating micro-climates of comfort.
These people countered the large temperature differences with #insulating furniture, such as hooded chairs and folding screens, and they made use of additional, #personal heating sources that warmed specific body parts.

It would make a lot of sense to restore this old way of warming, especially since modern technology has made it so much more practical, safe and efficient.

Why does it seem so difficult to combine
    Green [#Climate] with Labour [workers]

    IT'S EASY
As a government you DON'T invest in #BigCompanies making things green.
Those companies have to convince themselves that 'going green' makes more money in the longrun. But will take any money that is offered.

As a government you DO invest in the 'little man' by #Insulating their houses, creating #Parks that cool their surroundings, etc. That way you convince the civilians that #ClimateChange is happening but that they're #NotPowerless. And it makes their personal living better affordable and easier.
As a government you DO pay #GoodWages, to make sure that everyone who's getting fired by the polluters is able to survive with a healthy heart.

  21. Just discovered that Prusa has introduced a new PETG filament: Prusament PETG V0, which is UL certified! 🎉🎉

    For more details, visit: prusament.com/materials/prusam

This filament is ideal for electronic components, such as housings and insulating parts, eliminating the need for flame testing. 🔥 😆

    Thank you, Prusa!

  26. Interesting piece in #TheEconomist who attribute 68,000 excess deaths in #Europe to high energy prices. Who to blame?

Putin obviously for weaponising #energy in the invasion of #Ukraine.

Successive governments for not #Decarbonising and #insulating buildings faster?

Voters and consumers for not demanding #EnergyEfficiency and a resilient robust society?

Ultimately perhaps blame is not constructive: but I feel this analysis does show where to focus efforts
