Update the somethingth, I think I have dialed in the formula.

1 part paint
1 part gloss modpodge
.05 part foaming agent
.10 part surfactant
1-2 parts water depending on paint.
Dash of salt

Now that we’ve done each color with its own formula, we just have to wait for it all to dry and then decide if we’re going to brush off all the residue or try to save the texture. Since this has been an experiment, I’m leaning towards brushing it, so see what lies unseen.

Update the…5th? Orange= Formulas 1+2. I’m not sure how I’ve managed to turn avoiding laundry into a two day paint and chemistry experiment with notes and everything, like it’s real science…but Bobdamn y’all, I think I may be real good at distraction.

Update the 4th. I’ve introduced Alkyldimethylamine Oxide and a dash of salt water to the party. The green bubbles were mostly dry-ish...but I haven't tried brushing off residue yet. I think I'm gonna wait till I'm done trying recipes, in the hopes that I can maintain the bubble shapes until the canvas has absorbed the color. The long-chain alkyl should allow the bubbles to act like a foam, theoretically giving me wider individual bubble rings. Theoretically.

(Why yes, I do have a collection of oddly labeled bottles with strange warnings, why do you ask?)

Update the third: adding mod podge, removed pva, doubled the water. Really interesting effect while wet, can’t wait to see what it dries like.

Ok, it was def caffeine and not genius. But, as an idea…it has potential. Execution may need work, the formula needs tweaking, and I still need to try it on a fresh canvas instead of a repainted tester…but there’s an idea, even if it’s not a genius idea. 🤣🤦‍♀️🥳

Corner closed and skirt laid. Yes, the corner skirt extends that far.

As this cornerstone had moved (a few mm in 90 years), there's a void for an extended concrete footing under the skirt.

Now a little bit of cleanup, some bitumen, a thin layer of sand for drainage and the dirt can go back in to cover the skirt, protecting it.

Its rather hot today and this white foam is very reflective, so I'm being roasted from all sides 😓

Many holes drilled, which is slow work. The Makita drill bit is more durable, lasted about twice as long as even the super expensive Bosch one. And these were actually quite cheap, although that was a reduced price.

The rocks look like hedgehogs now with anchor bolts and rebar in them but got quickly covered up by foam panels. Almost got to the corner before it got too late and I ran out of juice.

One round rock was under a foundation stone and so remained in place, with the foam cut around it and then added back on the outside to make up for lost thickness.

Few more panels and then the skirt, which requires careful grading and another round of digging as it extends further out on the corner.

Hoverfoam!

Only had to cut a tiny bit off two sections to fit around the bottom rocks. I've decided to make an overlap on the bottom, which will make a wider footing but include the rocks, rather than bodge around them with lots of foam cuts.

Less work to install at the cost of a bit more foam and concrete, but also a stronger, better insulated result.

This first section is taking forever, but a lot of things had to be worked out and the plan adapted many times.

Oh, I managed to get the concrete screws to grip in this stone - by hammering them in instead of screwing as they were designed 🤷‍♂️

So there is a row of anchor bolts under there as well now, in addition to the rebar hammered into the rocks.
