A rye grass green manure has done its job over winter. I lifted it with a ho-mi and left it on the surface to continue to break down before the bed is planted up next month.
On other beds I’ve cover killed the rye grass. Both methods work well.
Some bramble roots have been forked up and removed from another bed. Some still need to be removed another time.
This is as much soil disturbance as I’ll ever do. Minimum till rather than no dig. #GreenManure #CoverCrops #Mulch #Allotment #Gardening

Time is nearly up on the old plot. The shed and greenhouse are now empty. I’ve lots of plants, two water butts and some odds and sods left to move over to the other site.
Less than a month from now I will be able to call the new plot, the plot.

@Hellybootwader Keep going. I’m hoping for similar outcomes here as people start to see there are alternative to digging. Working more with nature goes without saying and not before time I’m starting to see little changes here on our site.
Two other plots are using green manures over larger area on their plot this autumn after experimenting last year. Another two plots are being converted to no dig for next year.

The local wildlife has been busy hunting for worms in the beds.

This pretty flowering #plant attracts hoverflies & those insects love eating aphids. When it's done flowering - you can cut it down & use cuttings as #GreenManure.
