A team I'm part of is in need of software that helps farmers track complex processes on their farm. This software is being built with EU grants.

It's a shared desire to make it open source, but which license is best is still unclear. I'm asked to make suggestions, which I can reasonably expect to be followed. My earlier experience here is poisoned by venture capitalists, so I need to reset my baseline.

I'm hoping to read expert opinions on which license is most fitting and why in this particular context.

Hidden Lotus Herbs is getting ready to move to our new #farm site and really ramp up our operations!

For some backstory,
I was the recipient of a fund from @coop to start a worker-owned #cooperative and decided to make it an herbal apothecary!

We've been operational for around six months and are now starting our regenerative agroecological farm and increasing the capacity of our free clinic.

However, the #renewableenergy systems we're building are more expensive than we budgeted for, and we could use some help getting the farm and clinic going financially.

But of a manic sowing, then it rained on Saturday. And then it kept raining! Bear in mind that we're in year 3 of a brutal drought.
Barley is germinating perfectly and this season might be better than last.

I've been quiet here, but I can explain...
Last year we were lucky to buy a piece of land and old manor house near our farm. The place you see in my pictures is not our land, we have a lease.
So we were planning to expand to the second location, which is about 20 minutes away, while retaining the original place. Over the past few years we invested a lot of of time and money there, but in the end things worked out differently.

One of the partners in the farm, whose land we were on, wanted to focus on other things so we decided it would be best to move the whole farm to the new location. On the one hand that means rebuilding all the basic infrastructure and a new market garden from scratch which means a lot of work and investment.
But on the other hand it'll be on our land and we can integrate all the lessons learned over the past 4 years, so that's exciting!

Overall I'm very excited but also tired as you might imagine. Moving a farm is a lot of work... And we're not even halfway done. Luckily we have the lease on the original location for at least another year so we can maintain production while resetting.

I'll try and document as much of the process here!

A #CradleCatholic. As a wee lad, I did all the stuff - Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation. I was born here all my life. When I was around four years old, the church kicked out my mom and, by extension, my family. An #ExcludedCatholic? I explored other practices and faiths, #meditation, #yoga, #Buddhism, and all the things. I wanted to not convert to a religion or practice that I had not been born to or wasn't otherwise ancestrally connected. A deep dive into Protestant fellowships lead to immersion into the #EarlyChurch Fathers and early #ChurchHistory. Entering the #OrthodoxChurch, I lived in several monasteries and wandered around the US like the guy in Way of a Pilgrim. I was ultimately drawn to #Theosis and the #PrayerOfTheHeart, sometimes called the #JesusPrayer. Long story short, decades later, a pandemic, and a few ends of the world, here I am. The #2024Election US has me wondering about US Christianities that support social actions and movements that contradict the teachings of Jesus. Shouldn't Christ's Gospel teachings be central?

I set myself a little challenge to only eat things made with ingredients we produce or forage ourselves.

Currently that is:
- Eggs
- Spelt
- Tomato
- Onion
- Kohlrabi
- Cucumber
- Zucchini
- Aubergine
- Potato
- Parsley
- Basil
- Honey

I'm not an absolutist about self sufficiency and believe more in community sufficiency but it's an interesting experience and forces creativity.

Yesterday was salad and Tortang Talong, then gnocchi with tomato sauce for dinner.
