I got back in Blender to try and find a color scheme.

Designed a label for it.

Then painted it, varnished it and finally assembled/glued it.

5 of the monsters are with accessories hinting to my brother's skills/hobbies.

The can was designed to hang on a wall.

A thread about a Christmas gift I did for (one of) my brother.

It's a 3d modeled, 3d printed sculpture, composed of 6 monsters in a mackerel fish can.
why 6 ? because our mother used to call him "6 monstres, à lui tout seul" (six Monsters, all by himself)
In french "six monstres" sound a bit like "Simon".

so:
-I started by a quick sketch to try to lay out what I had in mind.

-Then I modeled it in Gravity Sketch (a VR modeling software)

Eric Stoddard the founder of #Car #Design #Academy is using Gravity Sketch to do a live trace of a Tesla Model 3, and then export to #Alias for a CAS model he working on to boost his Class A surfacing skills. AR is a great way to quickly capture a digital representation of a real vehicle or clay model. but I think soon AI will replace that. Personally I see many problem but is the show for customers.

@polyhaven I use this now in #GravitySketch on my old quest, so I am standing there... in vr making my 3d doodles : )

@zayatoon no geo nodes, just displace modifier, animated with an empty object, and decimate modifier after that :)

Finally connected some tools that I've wanted to try together. VR modeling for cardstock #papercraft.

It's a low-poly crystal-like shape, with some holes from not paying much attention to the "unfolding" step.

There were hiccups with each step, but no major blockers. Cheers to interoperable formats like OBJ and SVG.

Also das ist jetzt echt krass: In #GravitySketch kannst du virtuell, deine VR-Brille aus- und wieder anziehen. So kannste dann im Passthrough-Mode fein im Realraum rummalen und konstruieren. Die einen nennen das #AR (Augmented Reality), die anderen #MR (Mixed Reality).

Anyway, beim ersten mal ist das so änlich steroid, wie seinerzeit die Entdeckung des Holodeck im Wohnzimmer. Ihr erinnert Euch?

Gibts für Umme, inkl. 1 GB Cloud-Speicher z.b. im Pico-Store. Über den Cloud-Speicher kann ich meine 3D-Modelle wunderbar inspizieren, so von allen Seiten. Von der VR Skizze z.b. nach #Overte in wenigen Klicks. Unbedingt mal anschauen.

Sketching out XR ideas in AR/MR is so much easier then using pen and paper. This sketch took under 1h, and made me think and solve problems in the medium it will be experienced in. Here I used Gravity Sketch in passthrough mode on a Quest 2.
