  6. A4. Influences — I like using existing art loosely, as a basis for my #chalkart —it’s guaranteed a crowd pleaser if folks can say “hey I recognize that”. For sewing, I like seeing what other folks do, but I mostly make what I want within my very limited skills; crochet is all from my imagination. I like making stuff nobody else would, and I have the crochet skills to do that. @MakersHour #makershour

  11. Hello! I’m Penny, current projects include a #quilt version of my reading log for 2026, a #crochet beanstalk for a costume, and hoping to start making an elaborate recycled tin crown soon. Also we’re coming to the end of rainy season so I can do bigger #chalkart in front of my house soon; right now it’s just a big plate of spaghetti. @MakersHour #makershour

  16. For #MakersHour today, hello, I’m Hollie and here’s what I’m working on…

    1) A small watercolor swatching book for relaxation, decided not to put a cover on it and just painted squares instead.
    2) A new text block clamped together, still unsewn
    3) A finished text block in French stitch, which is to be a collection of sketches made while I have regular Sunday brunch with a friend - still uncovered
    4) The first page of the brunch book

  17. For my first-ever #MakersHour post, here’s the first hand bound book I ever made, in 1999. I love it so much. It’s filled with photos and journal entries. I haven’t made another book exactly like this one since, but learned Coptic stitch a few years ago and just finished a class on French stitch. I do hope to make some others like this one (I think a cork cover could be beautiful), I just need to relearn the stitching technique.

Oh and HI! I’m Hollie! :)
