You know what would be really, really cool?
That GNOME had an Android/iOS app that could connect to a GNOME desktop and use libadwaita apps and use them remotely.

We are grateful to everyone who has become a #FriendsOfGNOME. Your donations help us plan new programs for 2026 and strengthen the future of #GNOME. We also thank all our contributors across many roles, without whom our desktop would not be possible.
Happy Holidays!

One week after we kicked off our year-end fundraiser, we’ve reached 800 #FriendsOfGNOME!
Our goal is a bit more ambitious, though: 1,500 by December 31. Help us out by joining today: https://donate.gnome.org
If you’ve already joined or are unable to right now, you can still help by sharing this post with friends and colleagues: https://blogs.gnome.org/foundation/2025/12/01/join-friends-of-gnome/
Let's secure the future of GNOME together and enable us to do even more great work next year.
-
We’re soooo close to 800 #FriendsOfGNOME; who is going to be the one to push us over that nice round number?? 👀
-
Supporting the GNOME Foundation directly enables us to take on more initiatives like this, paying community members to deliver impactful work. Help us reach 1,500 #FriendsOfGNOME before the end of the year by donating today: https://donate.gnome.org
What features or initiatives would YOU like to see the GNOME Foundation take on in the coming year?
-
We’re 50% of the way to our goal for the end of the year! 🎉
Have you joined #FriendsOfGNOME yet? If not, this is your sign to join 750 other amazing supporters:
If so, help us keep up the momentum by sharing with your friends, especially those outside of the typical contributor community. Let’s end the year strong!

It has been an exceptional 2025 when it comes to what GNOME has delivered. Let’s help the Foundation reach 1,500 Friends of GNOME by the end of the year to be able to deliver even more in 2026!

Where am I on this page? Nobody knows. I cannot ask the scrollbar
because it is hiding as a thin ghostly translucent grayness.
The Mozilla Corporation / Mozilla Foundation's usability and
accessibility experts must have been on a cocaine fueled binge when
greenlighting the killing of Mozilla Firefox's scrollbar.
Or is it the Gimp Toolkit people, the Gnome Foundation and/or Gnome
Project that are behind this travesty? This idiocy? This abhorrent
lapse of moral judgement?

As we continue to grow the Foundation’s donations, we look forward to being able to focus on additional ways to directly support the community and the development of GNOME itself.
Thank you again to all 500 of you Friends of GNOME! To everyone else, we’d love for you to consider joining today: https://donate.gnome.org

It's time guys, GNOME is good but...
...if you want GNOME to be great, there is a donation button that links to here:
I'll donate to GNOME any time of the day as long they don't spend 40% of the budget for inclusive bathrooms.

It’s been a period of transformation for the Foundation, and the support of every Friend of GNOME truly makes a difference by enabling us to:
• Maintain and improve our infrastructure including GitLab hosting and build pipelines we freely provide to Core, Circle, and World projects
• Provide services for members like blog hosting, chat, and video conferencing
• Support the development of Flathub

Check out everyone who opted into being listed over at https://donate.gnome.org
…and if your name isn’t there, consider supporting us to be one of the first 1,000? 😉

It would be pretty neat if the #GNOMEFoundation's form 990 filings reflected the actual number of volunteers. In terms of community size, we are not a Double Century, we are a First Cohort 😉

Extract from the GNOME Foundation budget and economic review recently released:
https://discourse.gnome.org/t/foundation-2024-2025-budget-and-economic-review/24436I am especially interested how exactly this money was spend, who was contracted, what did they work on in detail?

Keine guten Nachrichten für #GNOME
in diesen schwierigen Zeiten fehlt überall das Geld.

A good summary by @thelinuxEXP of what went wrong with the #GNOMEFoundation recently, also the conclusion from it from an outside #gnome pov after it is interesting:
https://tilvids.com/w/pC8PHQ2MjEuxbQdMntZHt4?start=2m9s
I'm impacted mostly by the reduced travel spnsorship to events. In contrast I am not concerned at all about the staff reduction, and I don't think there will be more work for the community then before either.
I am really optmistic though, that the newly elected board members will be able to fix things! -
It might have gone a bit under the radar given there has been a lot of #gnomefoundation related news these last weeks, but in the transition to gitlab's wiki, there's now a section with Board's policies: https://gitlab.gnome.org/Teams/Board/-/wikis/Policies#board-member-policies. We hope that helps with transparency and build more trust on directors' goals and duties. As a bonus, they should help new candidates next year understand what being a member is. Thanks @allanday for the great work on it!

@bragefuglseth @jsparber can't wait for the #ColdNorthGNOMEMeetup ;)
Also I wish that one day the #gnomefoundation can (partly) sponsor travel costs also to these small events, at least for low-income or no-income participants (like students, I wonder if we should organise better, I feel like sometimes we could defend our interests/situation better together)
