This morning, my son and his buddies threw out a dangerous question: “Are you superstitious?”

Now, logically, I want to say no. I don’t walk around tossing salt over my shoulder or fearing black cats. But if we’re being honest… I also refuse to say things like “Wow, nothing has gone wrong today!” because I know the universe is listening.

So, am I superstitious? Let’s just say I respect the possibility of unseen forces—but I’m also not afraid to test them.

🔹 Example: “Ugh, I never get sick.” Boom—suddenly, I’m drowning in tissues and self-pity.
🔹 Pain Level: 9/10. Because why does the universe have to be so petty?

✅ How I Handle It: I knock on wood. Every time. Even if it’s fake. Even if people are watching. If I forget? You best believe I’m mentally whispering “no jinx, no jinx, no jinx” to undo the damage.

2. The ‘Something Feels Off’ Rule (My Sixth Sense is Real)

I don’t know if it’s energy, instinct, or just years of experience with people being sketchy, but if something feels wrong, I listen.

🔹 Example: Walking into a place and feeling an immediate, unexplainable sense of nope.
🔹 Pain Level: 10/10 if ignored. Because the ONE TIME I brushed it off, I ended up in a situation I never should have been in.

Consistency is hard… Weekly Recap 10/6/2025

If you’ve ever set a New Year’s resolution or any type of recurring personal goal, then you probably know that the likelihood of consistently hitting it eventually falls to zero when stretched over a long enough timeline. We’re good at our goals for a few weeks, maybe for a few months, but a year? Multiple years? It starts to get harder and harder.

A few years ago, I set a personal goal to write as much as possible. I wasn’t sure how that would manifest at first… but one day, I decided to write a Monday newsletter. And then I did it again the next week. And the week after that.

Somehow it just became the routine.

There have been well over a hundred Mondays since then, and I haven’t missed a single one. Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays this writer from the swift completion of his appointed rounds. I don’t take holidays, either. If Christmas or Thanksgiving falls on a Monday, by the gods, I will still send you one of these stupid updates.

I’m sure I’ll miss one eventually. Hopefully when that happens, you’ll forgive me… but for now… I’m at 100% consistency. If you woke up on a Monday without receiving this… well, maybe it really isn’t a Monday after all.

Good morning and happy Monday, friends! And happy early October… the spookiest of all months.

One interesting thing about this time of year is that there is an uptick in the number of emails we receive as a coven. Seekers are out there seeking… but usually we get at least one completely crazed email as well, like someone claiming they’re being chased by the forces of evil. I can’t wait to see what comes in this year.

Selene and I had a prison ministry visit scheduled for Saturday, but it got canceled at the last minute. On Friday we received an email that the facility was on lock down for the weekend and all chapel events were postponed.

Instead, we wound up at the West Palm Beach GreenMarket.

There’s a guy there that sells spices. They’re amazing. He probably has every type of spice you could possibly imagine.

The market itself, however, was ridiculously crowded and hot. It felt much hotter than usual and the amount of people was giving me claustrophobia. At one point, it seemed like we were waiting in a long line… and that was only to walk down the street!

So we dipped out of the crowds and into an air-conditioned restaurant.

We found a place with these cute little bento box lunch specials.

And down an alley from the restaurant was an empty courtyard with a relaxing fountain. It was a really nice contrast from the crowded streets.

On Saturday evening, we continued our quest of trying to find the best local pizza in the West Palm beach area. This time we tried DeSano Pizzeria.

It was pretty tasty, don’t get me wrong, but a little pricey. Also not incredibly filling.

If you think you know who has the best pizza, please let me know. We’ll add it to our list.

On Sunday, we went out for a little lunch date.

We also started watching Monster: The Ed Gein Story on Netflix. It’s absolutely horrific and each episode just gets gradually more and more disturbing. Definitely give that a watch if you enjoy terrible things.

I am really close to finishing some initial edits to the next episode of M3, which features Erich and Alannah Brown and their book, Modern Hermeticism. You can probably expect to see the early release of that on Patreon later this week… and then the public release on YouTube sometime after.

Oh, speaking of books… did you see the exciting announcement I made on Facebook a few days ago? Don’t worry… I’ll be revealing more details next week on Wyrd Wednesday!

Well, that’s about all I have to say for now. I’ve got another week packed full of writing and homework to start.

Consistency is hard… Weekly Recap 10/6/2025

If you’ve ever set a New Year’s resolution or any type of recurring personal goal, then you probably know that the likelihood of consistently hitting it eventually falls to zero when stretched over a long enough timeline. We’re good at our goals for a few weeks, maybe for a few months, but a year? Multiple years? It starts to get harder and harder.

A few years ago, I set a personal goal to write as much as possible. I wasn’t sure how that would manifest at first… but one day, I decided to write a Monday newsletter. And then I did it again the next week. And the week after that.

Somehow it just became the routine.

There have been well over a hundred Mondays since then, and I haven’t missed a single one. Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays this writer from the swift completion of his appointed rounds. I don’t take holidays, either. If Christmas or Thanksgiving falls on a Monday, by the gods, I will still send you one of these stupid updates.

I’m sure I’ll miss one eventually. Hopefully when that happens, you’ll forgive me… but for now… I’m at 100% consistency. If you woke up on a Monday without receiving this… well, maybe it really isn’t a Monday after all.

Good morning and happy Monday, friends! And happy early October… the spookiest of all months.

One interesting thing about this time of year is that there is an uptick in the number of emails we receive as a coven. Seekers are out there seeking… but usually we get at least one completely crazed email as well, like someone claiming they’re being chased by the forces of evil. I can’t wait to see what comes in this year.

Selene and I had a prison ministry visit scheduled for Saturday, but it got canceled at the last minute. On Friday we received an email that the facility was on lock down for the weekend and all chapel events were postponed.

Instead, we wound up at the West Palm Beach GreenMarket.

There’s a guy there that sells spices. They’re amazing. He probably has every type of spice you could possibly imagine.

The market itself, however, was ridiculously crowded and hot. It felt much hotter than usual and the amount of people was giving me claustrophobia. At one point, it seemed like we were waiting in a long line… and that was only to walk down the street!

So we dipped out of the crowds and into an air-conditioned restaurant.

We found a place with these cute little bento box lunch specials.

And down an alley from the restaurant was an empty courtyard with a relaxing fountain. It was a really nice contrast from the crowded streets.

On Saturday evening, we continued our quest of trying to find the best local pizza in the West Palm beach area. This time we tried DeSano Pizzeria.

It was pretty tasty, don’t get me wrong, but a little pricey. Also not incredibly filling.

If you think you know who has the best pizza, please let me know. We’ll add it to our list.

On Sunday, we went out for a little lunch date.

We also started watching Monster: The Ed Gein Story on Netflix. It’s absolutely horrific and each episode just gets gradually more and more disturbing. Definitely give that a watch if you enjoy terrible things.

Consistency is hard… Weekly Recap 10/6/2025

I tagged for almost a month here.

The tagging timing in the Surgical Posting is from 7am till 10pm which is same as with other postings, except Obstetrics & Gynaecology (O&G).

In the Surgical Posting, we all have to complete a compulsory 14-Day-Tagging period irregardless of having “off-tagged”. Entering the Surgical Department as a senior or fourth poster, we are allocated to special shifts such as night shifts in ward or night shifts in ethe emergency department (ETD).

This serves as an advantage to us seniors as we do not have to work the morning shift for one week straight prior to having an off day. It is also better as it allows us to recuperate in between by not having to go to work extremely early.

However, the disadvantage is that our tagging period is somewhat extended.

As I mentioned before, we are required to complete a 14-Day-Tagging period. The night shift is not counted. Hence, the tagging duration can go up to 3 weeks.

For me, it extended up to 4 weeks due to my medical leaves (MC).

During my first week of tagging, I took a day of medical leave due to extreme fatigue and in the second week, I took 3 days of medical leaves due to extreme fatigue and COVID-19.

At the time of writing this article, I am on a 6 weeks medical leave due to my ATFL injury.

Sometimes I wonder, if I will ever exit this posting and proceed with my last which is medical.

Back to the tagging part, thus my tagging period lasted for a month.

Going to work as a tagger, I would leave home around 5:45am – 6am. Partly because I’m just tired and felt like I needed more rest because there will always be an active issue in ward and I am only able to return home at 10pm.

In the evening around 7pm, I would go for dinner after handing over to the night colleagues and completing my tasks and on-call reviews for the day. Most of the time, it would be our first meal of the day.

Some days, we would be done by 8-9pm and on some days, earlier. Most of us, upon completing, would head for dinner and head home or to just head home straightaway.

This is wrong of course but we were simply exhausted and burnt-out during the tagging period. Thus, we grab the opportunity while we could.

Towards the end of my tagging period, I started bringing packed dinner boxes and reheating them as work prior going back.

Surviving the tagging period in the Surgical Posting was hard and tiring but eventually, it did came to an end.

Thus, if you have yet to enter the Surgical Posting, the tagging period is indeed tiring as with any posting. However, try to learn as much as you can and take comfort in the fact that it does come to an end.
