Starbucks Sloppy Spam Session

I’m getting a lot of comments that I am landing in the spam files 🤔I don’t know why but Thanks Jetpack. Along with this I have only been able to write sad verses lately, I guess I’ve got the blues.

On a happier note I am starting to understand how to use my DAW so that’s pretty cool. Hopefully I will be comfortable in it when I get the booth up and running so I can record in it. I sound like slop right now as my voice isn’t trained and I’m croaking hitting certain notes.

Speaking of slop, I’m making these videos as I have so many credits in openart that I’m wasting them at the end of the monthly cycle as they don’t roll over. I can’t make enough images to consume that many.

Last April I released my second book “Silent Screams” and over the course of a year it made zero sales. It is a complete opposite of “Ink Stained Love” that shows the darker side of my altered mind. No complaints here, I am still so grateful to Dawn Pisturino for encouraging me to do the books and AJ Wilson for turning me on to Suno. With that said I am not marketing them and have been turning them into songs with AI. In my mind there is both slop and some good songs on the DM dials. Here is an example…it can be found on the dawghouse dial 103.2

CUANDO EL MANSPLAINING INVADE TU PROPIO BLOG 🙄✋

¿Qué te saca de tus casillas?

¿Alguna vez has sentido esa sensación de «¿en serio me está pasando esto?» cuando alguien intenta explicarte algo que TÚ dominas mejor que nadie? Pues bien, hoy vengo a desahogarme porque, literal, estoy harta de los mansplainers que llegan a MI PROPIO BLOG a darme cátedra sobre temas que yo manejo. 🤦‍♀️

¿QUÉ ME SACA TOTALMENTE DE MIS CASILLAS? 🔥💢

Déjame ser clara: estoy 100% abierta al diálogo constructivo. Amo los debates respetuosos donde todas las voces aportan. Pero hay algo que puedo detectar a kilómetros de distancia: esos hombres que llegan con su actitud paternalista y su pseudointelectualismo intentando «corregirme» sobre temas como el feminismo. ¡EN MI PROPIO ESPACIO! 😤

El patrón es siempre el mismo… 🕵️‍♀️

Llegan aparentando inocencia, con preguntas o comentarios que parecen buscar diálogo, pero rápidamente revelan su verdadera intención: mansplaining en su máxima expresión. Y cuando los confrontas, ¡sorpresa! Se hacen las víctimas. 🎭

ANATOMÍA DE UN MANSPLAINER EN MI BLOG 📝🔍

1. La llegada del «experto» 🧠💭

Todo comenzó cuando respondió a una de mis publicaciones con este joyita:

«Me parece que puede haber algo de falacia ahí, porque una cosa no tiene que ver con la otra, necesariamente. O sea, ella puede ser feminista y aun así tener sus favoritismos basados en otros criterios que no la hagan discriminar necesariamente entre géneros: si es hombre es malo, si es mujer es buena. Ya eso sería un dogma, una ideología, y no feminismo. Puede ir por ahí la cosa, me explico?»

Mi respuesta fue simple y directa: «el feminismo es una ideología por si no sabías…..» 💁‍♀️

2. El momento «déjame explicarte lo que ya sabes» 📚👨‍🏫

Y ahí fue cuando el mansplaining alcanzó niveles estratosféricos:

«no no no, una ideología es un conjunto de ideas preestablecidas, el comunismo, por ejemplo, pero el feminismo más que una ideología que se presta para establecer dogmas, es un movimiento, una causa social, con corrientes, militantes, activismo. Es más, ser feminista es defender los derechos humanos.»

¿EN SERIO? ¿Un hombre explicándome QUÉ ES el feminismo? ¿QUÉ SIGUE? ¿Explicarme cómo se siente ser mujer? 🤯

3. Cuando presentas hechos, recurren al título profesional 🎓🏆

Le expliqué la definición académica de ideología:

«Conjunto de ideas fundamentales que caracteriza el pensamiento de una persona, colectividad o época, de un movimiento cultural, religioso o político, etcétera.»

Y señalé que el feminismo puede ser más que una ideología, pero también ES una ideología. Su respuesta fue puro oro mansplainer:

«más que hombre, soy persona, y además me dedico a estudiar el tema porque soy psicólogo, y el diccionario no es una fuente que aporte fundamento científico.»

La carta del victimismo 📜🥺

¿Has notado cómo cuando señalas su actitud paternalista se convierten en «víctimas»?

«¿Qué pasa?, ¿que por tener pene ya no puedo debatir sobre el tema? Al final, lo estás reduciendo todo a una cuestión de género, justo contra lo que tanto se ha luchado, ¿entonces esto qué es?, ¿una lucha contra un sexo o contra un sistema?»

NADIE. DIJO. ESO. 🙄

La contradicción andante 🔄⚠️

Le respondí claramente:

«Nadie te está diciendo que no puedas opinar por ser hombre. Lo que estoy señalando es cómo lo estás haciendo: desde una posición autoritaria, intentando deslegitimar mi postura con tecnicismos y apelando a tu título profesional como si eso cerrara el debate.»

CÓMO IDENTIFICAR EL ANDROCENTRISMO EN SUS MENSAJES 🔎🧐

Al final, todo su discurso se resume en una palabra: androcentrismo. Esa visión del mundo donde el hombre es el centro y la medida de todas las cosas. Sus argumentos están llenos de:

• 👉 Invalidación de experiencias femeninas
• 👉 Uso de su «autoridad» para desacreditar
• 👉 Apropiación de espacios de diálogo
• 👉 Victimización cuando son confrontados
• 👉 Necesidad de tener la última palabra

La cereza del pastel 🍒👑

Su respuesta final es digna de un premio al mansplaining:

«🤣🤣🤣 es que es para reírse. Algún otro diagnóstico más? Y después soy yo el de los tecnicismos y etiquetas. Así estamos. Pero nada, aquí sigo yo mejor trabajando verdaderamente con enfoque de género en cosas que de verdad aportan en vez de tirar hate en redes que es pura opinión propia disfrazada de feminismo. Adiós, sigue con tu ‘quítate tú pa ponerme yo'»

Controlling My Food Choices and Portion

I’ve always been a foodie.

I enjoy my going on food trips with my family or friends. If I’m bored or sleepy, I would look for a snack, which again is well, food.

Thus, over the years, the weight started piling up and towards the end of primary school, I noticed that my weight posed an issue. As a child, I was overweight. 

I recalled visiting the doctor once when I was in primary school coz I was unwell and he made me stand on the weighing scale and perhaps he did say more but at a young age, all I remembered was him yelling “Your child is FAT. FAT. FAT. FAT. F-A-T, FAT!”, all throughout my checkup and as I was leaving his office with my mom.

It felt like as if I had committed a felony. When in reality, he was trying to point out on how unhealthy it is for me, somehow in a rather direct way.

Over the years, I’ve struggled with my weight. It was never constant and always up and down. I’ve tried various diets which didn’t stuck long. 

The only time I properly lost weight was when I started my housemanship journey. Amidst me eating at the wrong time, somehow the weight just magically went off. Firstly, perhaps I was too occupied with work to eat properly, hence, unknowingly I tend to practice intermittent fasting almost everyday and secondly, my movements have increased dramatically. Walking above 15k steps per day was a norm.

However, as I progressed throughout my postings, I learnt how to fit eating back into my busy schedule and the weight started piling back slowly.

I brought the matter up to a dear friend and she mentioned that perhaps, I could try controlling my food portion. I reflected and realised that all these while, I’ve been consuming food in the usual portion which didn’t had an effect on me previously as I was constantly on the move.

Thus, if there is something I seriously need to pay more attention to, it would be my food choices as well as the portion. Food is extremely delicious and good. Sadly, I would say that I fall into the category of “Live to Eat” rather than “Eat to Live”.

Hence, it’s time for me to take charge and make a change towards my food choices and start my journey towards a healthier life.

Sometime ago, I wrote about “The Small Change I Hope My Blog Would Make“, whereby I mentioned that with every article written and uploaded on this website would spread some form of comfort and positivity, especially within the community of junior doctors.

Perhaps I’m just simply being optimistic. I have to. That keeps me going, even on difficult days to the point it has become a default reflex for me.

Nonetheless, I love to write and sometimes I do get lost that I tend to deviate from the topic at times and divert back to the main topic at hand.

Living in this world which has its flaws and problems at every corner, I try to see the good aspect of things and thus, I try to end my articles on a good note or some encouragement, which is mainly directed at me actually. However, I never know who may be reading my written articles and perhaps just need some encouragement and kind words at the moment.

It serves as a “happy ending” just like a fairytale in which I escape in one too many times.

Do you or your family make any special dishes for the holidays?

I am half-Filipino. My mother is from the Philippines and my father, a Malaysian, like me.

Growing up, I was neither close to my mother’s or father’s side. However, between these two, I am somewhat culturally inclined towards my mother’s side through some of her simple heartwarming dishes that she cooked growing up as well as some of the Filipino songs she would play or the Tagalog words she would incorporate in her daily conversations.

Two of the simple dish my mother would prepare would be pasta or bolognese spaghetti and Buko salad.

1. Spaghetti

Originally, spaghetti is a form of pasta and a staple food of traditional Italian cuisine.

However, it also serves as one of the staple Filipino dishes.

My mother would usually make a batch of bolognese spaghetti occasionally and on New Year’s Eve, as that is what my maternal grandmother used to do while she was growing up.

It is rather simple and easy as well and she would go crazy with the cheddar cheese topping. Over the years, as she started to dwell into vegetarianism and eventually become one for a lifetime, she created her own variation of a vegetarian version.

2. Buko Salad

“Buko” salad is a form of Filipino fruit salad.

“Buko” refers to a young coconut fruit and “Buko” salad consists of the young coconut itself.

It is a simple dish which has many variations.

My mother would usually mix with nata de coco of various colours, avoiding the colourless ones, corn, a huge can of mix fruits and other canned fruits before finally mixing it with evaporated milk, cheddar cheese and “buko”.

She will the separate it into containers and freeze it and have it on New Year’s Eve.

Growing up, my family would be seated at the dining table with other dishes prepared on New Year’s Eve for us to dine in together at midnight and every year, these two dishes remains a staple.

猛烈に不安になるのは、道に迷ったとき。

人生で、比喩的に使う「道に迷う」ときも、不安になる。焦る。

Today’s question is pretty funny. It is a laugh riot. What makes me nervous? What doesn’t make me nervous. Literally everything makes me nervous.

The usual big ticket items make me nervous. Fascism taking over my country makes me nervous. The maga cult moving into my neighborhood makes me nervous. Money makes me nervous. Food, clothing, and shelter make me nervous. Cancer makes me nervous. Dementia makes me nervous. All the big scary things.

The unusual little things make me nervous too. Breathing. Crossing the street. Both sleeping and waking up. Most other people. The sky. The ground. All of it. Everything. Literally everything.

I guess I am an all purpose kinda nervous wreck. I do my best to deal with it and hide it from the normal folks, but it’s always there and everything can set it off.
