On June 24, 1970, Catch-22 debuted in the United States. Here’s a portrait of Alan Arkin as Yossarian!

Okay, that one went well, at least for me.
I have eight jobs noted in my notebook, though I'm pretty sure I missed recording one or two that I can't remember off the top of my head. Even at this, the last five I had to put down later as it seemed I didn't have enough time between clients to take notes...
But out of that, I only had one item I couldn't repair. It was a #Sony bookshelf stereo-type system, the kind where it's basically a cube 30-40cm on a side, containing the amp, tape decks, tuner, CD player (or in this case, multiple-disc changer).
The reported problem was that the CD tray would not eject. Pressing the button did nothing, although the display would indicate that it was either opening or already open (not sure which).
Taking it apart as much as I could, I got to the point where the disc mechanism could not be removed because it was held in place by the front fascia (the fancy "door" on the front of the CD drawer mechanism), and fascia appeared to be attached to the drawer by screws or clips only accessible when the drawer is open. #Catch22 Sony over-complicate everything.
A highlight was fixing a talking stuffed #elephant that had stopped making sound. Small child very happy.
The high success rate, I think, is down to very few of the items I worked on being computer (#microcontroller)-based. Those black-box boards dying with no easy way to diagnose or repair the faults are the bane of our existence.

I'm trying to get Uncle a new ID card to replace the one he lost.
The problem is, he didn't just lose his state ID card, he lost ALL his cards. His habit was to just keep them all in one big stack over an inch thick, and to take that entire stack out with him whenever he thought he might need any of the cards in it.
Then he lost the whole stack.
The New York DMV says they can't issue him an ID card if he doesn't have sufficient proof of who he is.
I'm out of ideas.

Joseph Heller (May 1, 1923– December 12,1999)
Before writing Catch-22, Joseph Heller served as a bombardier in World War II and flew 60 combat missions over France and Italy.
That experience became the seed of one of the most famous anti-war novels of the 20th century - a book where war is shown not as noble glory, but as a terrifying system of fear, paperwork, commands, and absurd rules.

we need to ship those hydrocarbons through the Strait of Hormuz so we can burn them and raise sea levels so we can bypass the Strait of Hormuz #catch22

Wow, what a story, an AWS (Amazon Web Services) story…
Catch22 has nothing on them!
Good luck activating the “ah, support, situation”! 🤞 If you don’t report back in a reasonable time, we’ll send your clothes… 😁 (joke) -

the thing about off-site offline backup is that you need to occasionally get it back on-site to update and verify #catch22

Marker: Too much computer. Needs more information in marker's domain of knowledge.
Me, adding features: I have univariate time series feature analysis working across multiple dimensions, and a mostly functional classification system attached. Each dimension runs in its own thread, shit is fast yo. I have attained enlightenment.
Anyone looking for eldrich R knowledge for time series analysis, theft is an interesting CRAN package. Blunt instruments are great. Note tsibbles have header data, you can't just yank columns out of them, it causes baffling downstream errors even if keys and indexes are included.

Make no mistake: The cruelty of ICE is no fault, it's precisely the point.
The continued rampage of this gestapo-esque Trump militia has two potential outcomes:
a) People get more and more intimidated, cover and hide in fear -> Trump wins
b) Resistance against ICE turns violent. Trump cracks down on "domestic terrorists" -› Trump wins
#catch22
Classic #fascists handbook at work.

Am I going mad, or is this a Catch 22 situation?
I'm trying to do the UK Companies House identity verification process and have hit this screen, which appears to be saying that to verify my identity I need to enter the code I got when I verified my identity.
What am I missing?

The phrase I see you is the canonical ritual of a perceptual collapse. Theory of Mind (ToM), the dominant human interface for social understanding, functions not as a window into others but as an Epistemic Mirror that projects the observer's own operational logic.

@fefe_interim This is terrifying, as it is happening all over the place, not only Apple. The thresholds for any "potentially fraudulent" activity have to be so low, that a lot of people are affected many, many times (especially older ones, with less technical ability than yours). Any contact is limited to AI, chatbots and FAQ-sites and do not offer any real decision power in case of a system glitch - which you have fallen victim of. The IT-#catch22-situations are piling up.

Support bei #SumUp ist doch eher fabelhaft. Dazu meine Fabelgeschichte:

Typisches Catch-22 Dilemma 😞
"Das Buch Catch-22 beschreibt eine Situation, in der Geisteskranke vom Kriegsdienst freigestellt werden. Ein Antrag auf Freistellung wird aber als Zeichen offensichtlicher geistiger Gesundheit gesehen, weil Angst vor dem Kriegsdienst normal ist. Logischer Schluss: Ein Aussteigen ist nicht möglich."
