  6. Just saw this very cool video on #DIY #DRAM:

    youtu.be/h6GWikWlAQA

DIYing low-performance hardware such as #HSMs or #microcontrollers might actually become feasible in a few years :o

Here's a ldt of documentation by other folks working on such projects:

    docs.hackerfab.org/home

It also lists a few open #hackerfabs in the US and India.
Does anyone know whether any such open hackerfabs exist in the #EU too?

  7. Ok, después de 2 semanas, tengo una primera versión de la unidad 5 del apunte que cubre (una parte) del ADC del STM32F103 (bluepill). Les dejo el link acá para que pueda leerlo, probar los ejemplos y decirme qué les parece.

  8. TIL still makes new PIC18 designs with modern peripherals like I3C, cheap development boards, and even a DIP option. Hard to find exact dates but the one I'm looking at (PIC18-Q20) lists 2021 in the copyright.

  9. The #Z80 #cpu is no longer produced since 2024, what to do if you need to replace a broken one? The picoZ80 is a drop-in replacement based on the RP2350 #microcontroller

    Soon to be released.

  14. Please don't judge my cabling but I am quite desperate. I got this LD2420 presence sensor working quickly using this library: https://github.com/NaeviusUAV/EasyLD2420

Changed my code several times, rebooted the ESP etc. etc. - then suddenly it stopped working. Cables are connected correctly but also tried other combinations, too (PIN layout seems to depend on firmware version).

Some research showed many people having issues with this one but could not find a solution, often the fault was Homematic or ESPHome.

Even tried a second LD2420 - no difference.

Ooooh - maybe I broke the ESP's UART?

  15. Arduino's announced a new bundle (of existing hardware): the Arduino Matter Discovery Bundle, which comes with an Arduino Nano Matter and aims to teach people how to make smart home devices that communicate via Zigbee.

No, I'm kidding, that communicate via Matter, unsurprisingly.

  16. Another late #Hackster round-up today, 'cos the last piece of the day was under embargo.

First up, though, is another Inkplate ePaper display - and this time it's based on the lovely E Ink Spectra 13.3" colour panel. Yes, the same one Seeed Studio put in a very similar smart display a while back. This one's more expensive, *but* the ecosystem is well-proven at this point *and* it's #OpenHardware.

  17. It's #Hackster round-up time, and today we're starting with a *fantastic* project from @slyka: an analog TV transmitter built using almost nothing but an STMicro STM32 microcontroller and a bunch of clever coding.

  18. What time is it? Well, about five to four by my clock, but more importantly it's #Hackster round-up time!

First, for those who've got a shiny new #Arduino UNO Q on their desks, a new Arduino App Lab which adds some nice quality-of-life features including easy project import and export.

Also, it apparently takes 10GB of temporary storage to update your Arduino UNO Q(!)

  19. And last but not least, a project from Max Reble which makes it possible to develop with the .NET framework on* the #Arduino UNO Q - adding support to the Arduino Router that lets the single-board computer side talk to the microcontroller side.

    * Where "on" is expanded to mean "when tethered to a desktop running the full-fat .NET software development kit," anyway.

  25. Back to happy news now, with Seeed Studio launching the first XIAO compact development board built around the Espressif ESP32-C5 - which means dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5 Low Energy, and even IEEE 802.15.4 Thread/Zigbee with Matter support.

    And it's under $7. Bargain.

  26. At $24 (USD), the #Teensy 4.0 is a flipping powerhouse of a #microcontroller . 600 MHz CPU with many nice features. 40 digital pins and 14 analog pins. 1 MB of RAM. High speed USB 2.0 port that can be either host or device and a bunch of other I/O.

I'm going to use this for my #synth project. I can convert a panel of controls to a very high speed #USB #HID device with reserved bandwidth guaranteeing 1000 packets/sec each way, so controls are updated at roughly 1 ms intervals.

  27. Rusya'nın işlemci konudaki birikimi çok yüksektir.

Batı bile bunları yazarken şu anda kullandığım bilgisayarda hâlâ takılı olan G4400 İntel Pentium işlemcilere de adını veren Rus mühendis "Vladimir Pentkovski" sâyesinde bu ileri işlemci teknolojisine geçebilmişti!

Onun adını onurlandırmak için işlemciye "Pentium" dendiği yazıyor!

  29. I designed another PCB... Small preview without revealing what it will be. It'll arrive mid January, though.
They will be manufactured by @aislerhq again, using the 20% December discount for using their #KiCad plugin.
It'll have the option to use an AVR DA compatible #microcontroller or a #tinyAVR one - I added options for both that I have in stock (AVR32DA32 and ATtiny814). Since it won't use many pins, I could have used smaller variants, too.

  30. And Olimex has launched yet another open hardware development board, this time based on the Espressif ESP32-C6 and packing Wi-Fi, BLE,, and IEEE 802.15.4 radios plus 18 GPIOs into a compact breadboard-friendly format - and there's even support for an optional battery!

  31. Couple of nice new (and affordable!) dev boards from Seeed Studio next, designed to drive a variety of #ePaper electrophoretic displays.

I love ePaper. Sorely tempted to pick one of these (probably the nRF one) up alongside the colour E-Ink panel they've got on offer...

  32. And finally, for now, a look at a live Q&A session the #Arduino team did alongside representatives from #Qualcomm, #STMicro, and #EdgeImpulse - mostly about the new Arduino UNO Q and the App Lab, but naturally fielding a *lot* of questions about the new terms and conditions and whether Arduino's moving away from its open source ethos (again.)
