Picked up a couple of new #ESP32 #M5Stack #Microcontroller this past week. A M5Stack Tab 5 ESP32-P4 based, not real sure what to do with. I had to buy the battery separate. But that was ok, I got it for a good price and it was worth spending a little more for the battery. And a M5Stack Mesh KIT, which really is a Cardputer ADV and a LORA Board that plugs into it. Still Got it for a great price, so I can't complain. Even if I'll not use #Meshtastic I'll get lots of use out of this.

Let me play you the tiniest... #microcontroller breakout board!The 10-cent CH32V003 microcontroller and a single capacitor make a complete breakout board. Honestly, I didn't even need the PCB. The capacitor could be soldered directly on the pins.
I flashed it with the #Arduino . Not so "Nano" in comparison! #ESP32 for scale.
And it has #Rust support!

#Copilot and I just finished flashing a new partition to one of my #ESP32 S3 boards to start our Webserver Webapps project.
If you have several computers and want them to share a bunch of nice apps that you and your AI create, it is much better to use a cheap and passive #microcontroller board as a local cloud app server. The microcontroller does not need to run these apps. It only needs to use its wifi to serve these browser apps to your local PCs running on their browsers.

Now this is an interesting #microcontroller board!
It has the same atmega2560 chip as an Arduino Mega, but in a much smaller form factor. The same amount of I/O is also presented, yet it is a smaller board than an Arduino Uno!
I am going to have some fun with this 😁

What's the lowest-power #RISCV #microcontroller ?
I'm planning to use the low-power core of ESP32-C6 for #jazda (no less than 7µA), but I'm sure there are cores that go lower than that.
Also, I'm running out of I/O pins on the -C6 and I might need to augment it with a "south bridge"...

Okay, that one went well, at least for me.
I have eight jobs noted in my notebook, though I'm pretty sure I missed recording one or two that I can't remember off the top of my head. Even at this, the last five I had to put down later as it seemed I didn't have enough time between clients to take notes...
But out of that, I only had one item I couldn't repair. It was a #Sony bookshelf stereo-type system, the kind where it's basically a cube 30-40cm on a side, containing the amp, tape decks, tuner, CD player (or in this case, multiple-disc changer).
The reported problem was that the CD tray would not eject. Pressing the button did nothing, although the display would indicate that it was either opening or already open (not sure which).
Taking it apart as much as I could, I got to the point where the disc mechanism could not be removed because it was held in place by the front fascia (the fancy "door" on the front of the CD drawer mechanism), and fascia appeared to be attached to the drawer by screws or clips only accessible when the drawer is open. #Catch22 Sony over-complicate everything.
A highlight was fixing a talking stuffed #elephant that had stopped making sound. Small child very happy.
The high success rate, I think, is down to very few of the items I worked on being computer (#microcontroller)-based. Those black-box boards dying with no easy way to diagnose or repair the faults are the bane of our existence.

Is it just me, or are some development boards really nonsensically designed? The USB socket on this one is on the same edge as the battery connector, which seems to make a sensible case design impossible. If there's a battery in there to charge, the charging socket can't be flush with the edge of the case! #microcontroller #hardware #electronics

Apparently I didn't bother to collect all the toots about this into a single thread, but my scrappy ESP32-based Bluetooth keyboard is now entirely functional. It still needs a battery and a case that slides out from my phone, but it pairs via Bluetooth, sleeps when unused, and reconnects after sleep or power loss.
