Some beaded bracelets I made! Found out in my mid 40s that I love fidgeting with small things. Fidgeting with the beads makes my brain so happy! Making the braclests is also super fun, I love the cool feeling of the stones and the sounds they make.

Ça fait des années que je gardais les axes des chaînes que je derivète entièrement pour en récupérer maillons et plaques. J'savais bien que ça me servirait un jour !

I want a high quality metal fidget toy. It keeps me from opening a browser tab the second I have to wait for anything to load.

I want it to be somewhat precisely manufactured and made out of safe materials, preferrably metal.

I know about https://lautie.com, but I was wondering if there was anything decent inbetween the ~$200 Lautie ones and the $5 chinese knockoffs. Any tips?

After hearing teachers talk about them in school, I got a pack of these "spiky sensory rings" that can both be used to center you with slight discomfort when anxious as well as be a fidget device you can like roll up and down your fingers, and I instantly became a fan and started wearing one every time I went out for a walk in my 6 miles today. I never know what to do with my hands in any given situation.

That mindless touching… 💫

As followers of this blog site can’t have missed, a little over 6 weeks ago, I lost my furry soulmate… 💔 It was during a week that already had started with pain and trauma, and apparently, the week wanted to end in tears… 😭

With the help of many lovely and caring people, I was able to have Arwen cremated privately, so the ashes were/are purely hers. I have a beautiful urn for her, and they saved some ashes separately for a pendant, that I got the week later. Since then, a tiny bit of Arwen has been with me, and it helps, but not enough… 😢

J'ai fabriqué d'autres modèles avec des chaines.

Et avec les rouleaux (les rondelles épaisses entre les plaques des chaine, si on les demonte entièrement), je fais des petits fidget circulaires :

Pour utiliser les plaques de maillons femelles que je gardais précieusement depuis des années, j'ai fait une petite variante du fidget mentionné juste avant : au lieu d'utiliser 2 maillons mâles, j'ai mis 9 places de chaine x 2 sur les anneaux.

Ça donne un rendu tout doux et ondulant, j'adore 😍

(Et c'est un peu mon best-seller en marché, quand les gens le teste ils en tombent généralement de suite amoureux•ses) :

Et, comme il me restait énormément de maillons mâles seuls dont je ne faisais rien, j'ai fait pas mal de tests d'assemblage avec ces maillons.
Jusqu'à réussir à les assembler sur 2 anneaux de telle sorte qu'on pouvait faire un mouvement "infini" avec ce fidget : l'extérieur devient l'extérieur et ainsi de suite :

C'est comme ça que m'est venue l'idée d'en vendre (sur mon site, mon Etsy en en marchés).

Et c'est en réfléchissant aux mots-clés pour le référencement, que j'ai découvert le mot "fidget".
C'était donc ça, j'avais fabriqué mon 1er fidget !

Et du coup, comme j'obtenais des bouts de chaine parfaitement propres, j'ai fini par en garder un en poche pour m'amuser avec.

Déjà toute petite j'avais toujours un "objet fétiche" en poche pour pouvoir jouer avec h24 : un caillou bien lisse (vous n'imaginez pas le nombre de cailloux dont je tombais amoureuse chaque année, j'ai toujours la collection 😅), un bout de bois que je trouvais parfait, un rond de caoutchouc, un anneau épais d'acier, ..
Plus tard on m'a expliqué que ce besoin de toujours s'occuper les mains était généralement lié au TDAH (qu'on m'a diagnostiqué adulte).

Bref, j'avais ce petit rond de chaine (j'avais fermé 6 maillons en cercle) en poche et ça me faisait un bien fou.
Ça m'occupait les mains mais aussi l'esprit quand une conversation devenait trop longue / trop ennuyante et ça m'évitait de sortir mon téléphone (ce qui est considéré comme plutôt malpoli m'a-t-on dit + d'une fois :3).
Et de triturer ce bout de chaîne m'aidait aussi à m'apaiser et à affronter des situations stressantes (genre passer un coup de fil, être passagère en voiture, ...).

Et surtout de + en + de potes me le piquaient en soirée, donc je finissais par leur en fabriquer et leur offrir :
