Mistodon: four years ago, @pixeldud had a month of #textmode art exploration, where he drew a screen daily for thirty days. This slice of isometric landscape excavation, "The Pit", a little dig in preparation for The Big Dig, is one such specimen of the outsider #ANSIart that resulted, released in the MIST0822 artpack collection.

Mistirgam: our unthemed MIST0823 artpack collection, released three years ago this month, was assembled in the immediate wake of the death of #PaulReubens aka #PeeWeeHerman, and we scrambled to cobble together a small tribute to his #PeeWeesPlayhouse oeuvre. Cthulu dashed off this super smallscale #ANSIart rendition of #Jambi the genie (RIP #JohnParagon also!) turning his wish-endowing chant into a Mistigris (well... Histigris) promo of sorts.

Mistodon: yesterday we shared an image of a typewriter, and now logically we progress to #WilliamSBurroughs' 1959 #NakedLunch, whose 1991 Cronenberg film adaptation inspired the Simpsons' quote: 'I can think of at least two things wrong with that title.' The cover art of this 1992 Grove Press edition issued in the wake of the movie, adapted to #ANSIart by Cthulu, was included in last month's books-themed MIST0426 artpack collection.

Mistigram: The first #ANSIart screen we profile from the new #fineart-themed MIST0424 artpack collection is this composition by @_n1tr0n, a juxtaposition of #sailboat racing with the neo-plasticism of #DeStijl painter #PietMondrian. The artist/sailor states he depicts: “my favorite moment in a boat race, the approach to the windward mark… the mondrian colors are supposed to reflect the elements of the scene, the sea, the sun, the sky, the racing spirit of the crew in red… I drew that ANSI the day I decided to sell the boat, actually.”
This image is secretly responsible for the specific timing of the release of our fine art collection, as tracking down the specific fate of a particular Nitron guest submission resulted in the discovery of an entire trove of worthwhile artworks on this theme that had been carefully stashed away and then forgotten about.
