  6. @znetwork We love #SantaCruz Bike Church! And here, in neighboring #Monterey County, similar efforts include Greenfield Community Science Workshop’s weekly bike ed labs in Greenfield (as mentioned in our Summer Bike Buzz bikemonterey.org/bike-buzz-sum) and occasional GCSW bike workshops in other #Salinas Valley Communities (bikemonterey.org/salinas-valle), i.e., #Chualar, #Greenfield, #Gonzales, #KingCity, #SanArdo, #SanLucas, #Soledad. Among other bike ed efforts in Monterey County: bike repair and maintenance classes at Monterey County Probation Dept Youth Center, the first high school bike tech classes in Monterey County, launched by Bicycling Monterey in 2012. bikemonterey.org/probation-dep

  7. Report from Transportation Equity Caucus: "Actions for Decriminalizing #Transportation and Movement: A Vision for #Antiracist Approaches to Safety” equitycaucus.org/decriminalizi

"An overall goal of the document is to advance a more expansive definition of safety that centers dignity, health, and well-being for ALL. Even if you do not agree with all aspects of the document, I hope that you can find some useful ideas and inspiration for a vision of traffic safety that seeks
to support people in making safer behaviors on safer streets without having punishment as the primary framing or tool for traffic safety.”—Ken McLeod, report coauthor and League of American Bicyclists / #BikeLeague policy director

  8. Among many #Bicycling #Monterey projects that most people are unaware of is 1st example under Project #4, BICYCLING #EQUITY (scroll down our Summary of Projects page: bikemonterey.org/about/financi).

Last week another #teen phoned us to make use of that project; today another teen called in same situation. We're glad to help. We salute these teens for not wasting their (or their family's) money on a #TrafficFine. Instead these #youth are "making lemonade out of lemons."

When #LawEnforcement officers deem a #citation appropriate, we appreciate #judges who offer an alternative to a #fineβ€”such as the one we provide (see Project #4).

In case you're wondering: We appreciate #police officers who are into education instead of citation whenever appropriate. And we've done reach out bikemonterey.org/constables-of to #PoliceDepartments over the past 14 years to help more #MontereyCounty, and other, #cops be better prepared to help educate people who #bike.
