#Google

  2. Ooh, interesting! My old OnePlus Nord (the og Nord) that runs Android 12 just got an security update (F24), but the phone has been Out of Support since beginning 2024 with F23 as the last update.

Ah... Actually released a couple of weeks ago, mostly likely addressing CVE-2025-10184 Android bug allowing any application to read SMS data.

  3. Google Play System Update (October 2025) rolls out for Samsung devices

Google Play System Update was a feature that was introduced for devices that ship with Android 10 or newer. It’s mandatory for device manufacturers that plan to release their devices with Android 10 to support Google Play System Updates. As a result, non-Google devices, such as Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets released with Android 10 (One UI 2.1), can receive such updates, too.

These updates don’t require security updates from the manufacturer to work, as Project Mainline modules work independently to give you better experience with Android phones and tablets.

On October 28th, a new Google Play System Update has been pushed to Samsung devices. This update upgrades your Project Mainline modules to the October 1st, 2025 version. This update weighs around 49 MB.

To be able to get this version, follow these steps:

    1. Go to your device’s settings
    2. Open the security settings
    3. Find “Google Play System Update” and tap on it
    4. If everything goes OK, you should see the below update dialog:

Click on Download and Install, wait for it to download, then reboot your device by clicking on the blue Restart button. The next time your device boots up, the revised update gets installed, so it’s going to take about 3 minutes maximum to install all the updates.

There is no progress bar, so don’t panic if it looks stuck. Your device will eventually boot up. Now, open your settings app and check your Google Play System Update. If everything is well, you should see October 1st, 2025 below the appropriate button.

In case your device didn’t receive the update, wait for a few days, and it will be available shortly.

Stay tuned for the November patch of 2025!

  10. Keine #Android Updates mehr, also Elektroschrott.

Noch über 300 Millionen Geräte mit #Android12 im Umlauf.

  11. The latest #Android #AOSP security patch marks the end of public Android #12 and #12L security patch support.

There are a number of #Automotive #Infotainment systems based on #Android12 or #Android12L, so it'll be interesting to see whether companies provide updates to #Android13 (or, more likely, #Android14), or whether we see head-units left vulnerable to issues discovered in the coming months and years.

  13. After #K9-Mail was also removed from F-Droid and replaced by #thunderbird, it was time for a change.

#SimpleMail is a slim alternative under #Android9, but it crashes under #Android12 and cannot be reactivated. The K-9 fork #mail from #monocles, which also offers other well-known apps, is a good replacement.

    If anyone is interested 😉

You follow #StateSponsoredMalware ? Cool. I do demonstrations about that on #Android10 to #Android12 and am about to embrace #Android13 with #SSM™ provider from the UK, GammaGroup.com, when I get around to it this year. My work, btw, is charity work to the #infosec community since I'm in Silicon Valley and have been here contributing to many industries here over the past 24+ years. See my bio.

Are you against my charity or just want to break down how #CALEA software works or something? Perhaps you are just about to do a GREAT science drop about #NSOGroup's #Pegasus and we are ALL about to learn something from you? No?

Perhaps when you talk about a previous employer of mine, Oracle Systems, sometime someone from Oracle may, shocked I know, just might say something. You know?

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oracle_C

I did my 9+ years working for Sun Microsystems in Menlo Park, CA also and 1yr into the Oracle Systems acquisition also. You know, the headquarters where #Meta (previously know as #Facebook who bought this property from Oracle.)

  16. Look, I know ... Lately I haven't been doing much on the whole #StateSponsoredMalware™ postings covering #GammaGroup's #FinFisher #FinSpy #Finsky ..... But who actually _WANTS_ to read about this ???? 😆

But I have seriously gone through #Android10, #Android11 , & #Android12 with these modules over the last few years.

This year I hope to complete #Android13 and then #Android14 with #GammaGroup because ... science.
