Google Play System Update was a feature that was introduced for devices that ship with Android 10 or newer. It’s mandatory for device manufacturers that plan to release their devices with Android 10 to support Google Play System Updates. As a result, non-Google devices, such as Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets released with Android 10 (One UI 2.1), can receive such updates, too.

These updates don’t require security updates from the manufacturer to work, as Project Mainline modules work independently to give you better experience with Android phones and tablets.

On June 30th, a new Google Play System Update has been pushed to Samsung devices. This update upgrades your Project Mainline modules to the June 1st, 2026 version. This update weighs around 70 MB.

To be able to get this version, follow these steps:

1. Go to your device’s settings
2. Open the security settings
3. Find “Google Play System Update” and tap on it

[FINISHED] Galaxy Tab A7 Lite’s One UI 6.1 update is still on testing

UPDATE: Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite testing is done! Korean units have received the One UI 6.1 update! Other countries will follow as the rollout begins soon.

Samsung started to roll out One UI 6.1 to various supported devices, including the Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy S23, and Galaxy Fold 5, as one of the first devices getting the update. Then, the 2022 and the 2021 flagships got the same update. Afterward, the A, the F, and the M series got the update as the last phone groups, and one of those that should receive the update soon is the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite.

According to the latest investigation done by us, we’ve found various pointers that suggest that the Tab A7 Lite is still in the testing stage of the One UI 6.1 update, which should be released soon. The final update will be under the following firmware versions (may not be final as there may be bugs to be fixed):

• SM-T220: T220XXU8EXH2
• SM-T225: T225XXU6EXC3
• SM-T225C: T225CZCU7EXG5
• SM-T225N: T225NDXU8EXH2
• SM-T227: T227JXU8EXH2
• SM-T227U: T227USQUAEXH2 (USA) and T227UVLUAFXH2 (Canada)

We speculate that the European 🇪🇺 models, EUX and EUY, will get this update as one of the first regions to get this update.

Once Samsung eventually releases One UI 6.1 to your Tab A7 Lite in your country, which should be close, follow these steps:

1. Open Settings
2. Tap on Software Update
3. Tap on Download and Install
4. Wait until you see “One UI 6.1” at the top of the screen
5. Click on Download
6. Wait for a few minutes, depending on your Internet connection
7. Click on Install

Your phone will restart automatically to a screen where it automatically installs the update. It should take no more than 15 minutes. Afterward, the Setup Wizard will appear on your screen, congratulating you for upgrading to One UI 6.1.

One UI 6.1, however, has a size of around 1.8 to 2.8 GB, depending on your device and your carrier, so you’ll have to download it under WiFi. It’s recommended to download this update on a connection that has a minimum of 8 Mbps.

You’ll need to charge your battery before installing this update because, depending on how many apps are installed, it may take a long time. Never interrupt the update process, or you may experience errors.

One UI 6.1 + Galaxy AI (almost-full) rollout is complete for flagships!

One UI 6.1 was released by Samsung to eligible smartphones and tablets. After the 2023 flagships (Galaxy S23, Flip/Fold 5, and Tab S9 series) got updated in March, Samsung started releasing the same update on May for all the 2022 flagships, such as Galaxy S22, Flip/Fold 4, and Tab S8 series.

Initially started on South Korea, the update was quickly spread from South Korea to Europe to the rest of the countries. This is an outstanding performance, especially considering that the One UI 6.1 version – optimized for the 2022 flagships – contains the almost-full Galaxy AI package (excluding the Instant Slow Motion feature).

We are excited to say that this update was spread quicker than we thought! This means that all of the countries and the models of all the 2022 flagships got One UI 6.1! As expected, if you didn’t receive the update, the only option is to wait.

Getting the update

If you got the update on your device, you’ll see a screen that looks like this:

This update weighs approximately 2.8 to 3.1 GB, so it might take 15 minutes or more to download, depending on your Internet connection. Moreover, the installation should take no longer than 15 minutes. Beware that you should never interrupt the installation process. Always charge your battery before proceeding to do the update.

Click on Download and Install, wait for it to download, then reboot your device by clicking on the blue Restart button. The next time your device boots up, the revised update gets installed, so it’s going to take about 3 minutes maximum to install all the updates.

There is no progress bar, so don’t panic if it looks stuck. Your device will eventually boot up. Now, open your settings app and check your Google Play System Update. If everything is well, you should see “February 1st, 2024” below the appropriate button.

In case your device didn’t receive the update, wait for a few days, and it will be available shortly.
