How did the last two months go in terms of my word count or publishing goals?

Not so good. But I have a new laptop all set up (okay, nearly all set up) with thrice as much space as before (3 TB! yay!).

Bonus tech support: my friend Darrell also has a new computer all set up and didn't lose any time on ebay.

I'm listening to Yellowface by R.F. Kuang (I've read it before) and it's really motivating, oddly).

Didn't get quite as far today as I had hoped, but it turned out there were a few more details I needed to work out first. Tomorrow will be a short day thanks to an afternoon commitment, but I'm still hoping to get close to the 3rd plot point.
With luck, I can finish this up with a strong push on Friday, the start writing either over the weekend, or next Wednesday!

I've always envisioned Shallow Trenches, Open Skies starting with a prologue that was a totally different format and POV from the rest of the novel. But now that I'm outlining it, I'm not sure I need or even want the prologue.
But now's not the time to make that decision. I should write it first.

I’ve been working on my outline for book 6 (Nursery) of my #DarkNebula series. I’m hoping to start writing it next week. It’s set to release in August of next year. In my other spare time, I’m finishing up converting book 1 (Isolation) into Google AI narration. I’ll have it up on the play store in the new year for free.

Today, I managed to get the music playlist for book 3 in my series done.

I actually meant to get it done a couple of days ago, but I had migraines for two days. The trouble with migraines is that, as well as the headache, the noise-sensitivity means that listening to music is out, and light-sensitivity means that looking at a computer screen for too long is bad. I have meds that work, but I end up sleepy all day.

But I got the playlist done today. Now I have something to listen to as I put together a more detailed outline over the next few days, and later on when I actually write the book.

How long do you wait between finishing your first draft and then editing it?

I only finished my first draft of Book 2 in my series a week ago, and after today’s outlining session on Book 3, I’m kinda itching to get on with the editing of Book 2, so I can get into writing Book 3 as soon as possible.

Just wondering if I need more time between my first draft and edits.

It feels like an appropriate time to mention that my upcoming debut novel 𝘎𝘢𝘴 𝘎𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘎𝘢𝘮𝘣𝘪𝘵: 𝘈 𝘛𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘛𝘢𝘭𝘦 𝘍𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘉𝘦𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘺𝘨𝘯𝘶𝘴 𝘙𝘪𝘧𝘵, coming Sept. 2025, is about how greed corrupts and leads to atrocities.
And that I'm working on a follow up novel I'm tentatively calling 𝘚𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸 𝘛𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘴, 𝘖𝘱𝘦𝘯 𝘚𝘬𝘪𝘦𝘴 about how xenophobia and hatred divide us.

These subjects feel especially topical right now.

I #AmWriting (well, I #AmOutlining) a 'cozy' world, with an eye toward writing 'cozy romantic fantasy'. It's... a thing.

But the more I stare at it, the less I'm sure it's a thing I really want to do. I'm in a group which plans to publish a bunch of books in this genre all at the same time, in a big publicity push, but I'm not sure I'm a good fit for the group, and I am sure the kind of cozy/setting I want to write doesn't fit their ideas.

So. What should I do? Do I write the cozies I want to?

The problem with outlining the next four chapters is that now I want to write them, dammit.

So this is silly, but I #AmWriting (actually I #AmOutlining) and I'm doing character design. I need to think of jobs and places for these people to work and I'm trying to come up with corporate jobs that aren't lawyers or Random Finance Company.

I guess there's international importation/sales, manufacturing, ... um. Oh! Real estate, I guess, and architecture.

I know this is silly, but what other corporate things are out there?

Today I looked at the outline for my POV1's 2nd quartile (act 2b or act 2 in a 3-act or 4-act structure, respectively). I fleshed it out, addressed some plot holes, and even touched on the 3rd quartile.

Not a whole lot in terms of wordcount, but it'll pay off later.
0 manuscript words, 896 words of additional outline. There was a decent amount of deletion and rearranging as well. Brings me to 3072 arbitrary words :)
