It feels like, only when I am swamped with work and deadlines, will my brain go: "Hey, here's a couple very interesting ideas to continue writing that science fiction novel... I also have some deeper themes to integrate into it... and also more symbolism to flesh out those characters in it... why dont you stop wracking your mind on useless work when you could be finishing what could be your magnum opus, your very claim to immortality?"
