  1. A TV ad aimed at Alaska voters makes a bold claim about Democrats, taxpayer money and medical care for minors. But the congressional vote behind the claim was not as simple as the ad suggests. 🔎

  2. Political signs are designed to make you feel something. This one is also designed to keep you from asking the obvious question: what does the measure actually do? 🗳️🧾 shorturl.at/TgfGt

  3. CW: USPol, Section 504

Alaska voters, esp. if you or anyone you know is disabled: Your state Attorney General, along with sixteen others, is part of a lawsuit to get rid of Section 504, which protects the rights of disabled people. Please see this site to see how you can speak out against this: dredf.org/protect-504/

Also relevant to voters in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and West Virginia.

  4. Almost done fixing my Mary Peltola shirts… I maybe should have been more careful, and taped off the borders of the white boxes. Maybe even made stencils for the text? But I was in a mood. :blobcatshrug:

All that’s left is the front of the red shirt, where I’ve whited out the word “CONGRESS” and will be replacing it with “ConocoPhillips” :blobcat_thisisfine:

  5. "Qawalangin Resilience Coordinator Shayla Shaishnikoff said participants — who’ll be called community knowledge holders — do not need formal scientific training to serve on the assessment committee.

“All of you here and all of you online are members of our community,” said Shaishnikoff at the meeting. “You are our people. We are the ones who know this land, we are the ones who know our oceans, and so you guys know better than any scientist based out of Anchorage or Homer about what's going on here on the ground.

Participants will be paid to share information on topics including when seabirds show up, how long berry picking season lasts, and other environmental issues that may demand planning and adaptation. Shaishnikoff said the guidance will equip local decision-makers to better identify threats and challenges driven by climate change."

This article was published a little over a year ago. I wonder how the effort has been progressing. #Alaska #AKpol #Climate #ClimateChange #ClimateResilience #Indigenous #IndigenousKnowledge

  6. @palmerreport For the US and UK I use #USPolitics and #UKPolitics. I don't know about other countries; maybe other people can suggest something.

For US states I suggest a variation on the Twitter convention using the Mastodon capitalization convention (for screen readers), e.g. #GAPol, #AKPol, #DCPol, etc.

  7. CW: #USpol AK election

Mary Peltola wins in Alaska again, defeating Sarah Palin for second time in three months

  8. A person best known for her lies and a lawsuit loss over the White House trying to silence the press is going to run for governor of Arkansas. I won't name her because the media at large is giving her enough free publicity as is.

Those also running are Greg Leding (D), Clarke Tucker (D), Davy Clark (I), and Jim Hendren (I), all previous state representative candidates for 2022.

Voters in Arkansas need to start doing their homework now and getting organized. The rest of us will need to help so watch for opportunities and posts. #Arkansas #AKpol
