  1. #WhiteHouse announces #ExecutiveOdor creator #Drumpf to sign sweeping #ExecutiveOrder to bar and complicate mail-in #voting. Despite using mail in voting himself, #DJT joined #RWNJ efforts to restrict #votingaccess and hopes to affect likely dire #GOP results expected in 2026 midterms.

New executive order will create an #ExecBranch controlled list of confirmed #citizens who are eligible and #mandates that any #absentee #ballots only be sent to those on #DrumpfAdmin approved list.

  6. An absentee leader can be just as bad as one who micromanages employees. A leader needs to find the sweet spot between those two for effective management/leadership. Employees need guidance & support, but too much or too little can be damaging. #absentee #micromanaging #leader #effective #sweetspot

  9. #MaineQuestion1 is a good reason to vote in an "off-year" election (you know, when the sneaky types try and pass shit!).

#Mainers like #AbsenteeVoting. Question 1 would make that option harder.

The November referendum has been framed around requiring #VoterID, but it also includes a host of changes to absentee voting.

    Rachel Ohm, August 24, 2025

Excerpt: "#MaineVoters have come to increasingly rely on absentee or #MailInBallots — a practice that is routinely targeted by #Republicans politicians as rife with potential fraud, even though evidence doesn’t support that.

"During last year’s presidential election, almost half of all votes cast were absentee. The latest citizen-initiated proposal would make that more difficult.
If passed, it would prohibit voters from requesting absentee ballots by phone, and would require older Mainers and those with disabilities to renew their eligibility each year. The proposal also would limit the number of #DropBoxes municipalities are allowed to have and prohibit them from including prepaid return postage."

  14. #VisuallyImpaired #voters sue #NewHampshire over changes to #Absentee #BallotAccess

The plaintiffs say the new law will deter some voters with #disabilities from participating in the democratic process at all, even after they have registered to vote

By Steven Porter Globe Staff, Updated August 21, 2025, 9:30 a.m.

"Three people with visual impairments are suing New Hampshire officials to challenge the constitutionality of a law that will soon tighten #PhotoID requirements for voters seeking an #AbsenteeBallot.

"The plaintiffs — Adele Robertson of #ExeterNH, Daniel Frye of #ConcordNH, and Regina Wilson of #BrentwoodNH — allege the new law, known as #SenateBill287, will impose a significant burden on every #AbsenteeVoter statewide.

" 'And, in some cases, these burdens will entirely prevent voters from exercising their #RightToVote,' their lawsuit states.
Under the new rules imposed by #SB287, voters will be required to either bring a photo ID to their local election officials to request an absentee ballot in person, or submit a copy of their ID or a notarized signature along with their application.
While proponents said the legislation will better protect election integrity, critics said the changes will add barriers that disproportionately impact #seniors, voters with #disabilities, and those living in #rural parts of the state."

  20. Happy endings happen! We decided to go ahead and submit our #absentee ballot requests despite what the election worker said yesterday. And they were approved. So we’ll be getting the absentee ballots after all. All’s well that ends well, and better yet, I didn’t have to yell at anybody.

  25. CW: Time for a rant, you’ve been warned!

You may recall that last night I posted here that I had requested #absentee ballots in order to vote in this year’s Presidential election. I assumed this would be an easy procedure. Not so much. Sarah and I have been told that we cannot vote absentee. For our reasons for having to vote absentee, we marked that Sarah might be out of town (the truth) and that I don’t have transportation to the polls (also true). (1/6)

  30. We got it set up so we’ll get our #absentee ballots in the mail. This makes me happy. When we voted in 2020, there was a line out the courthouse door, and it took us an hour and a half to even get to the room where the voting machines were. It’s hard to not think it’s getting harder and more inconvenient by design, but maybe I don’t know everything.
