Trying to fall asleep to the pod-Johns and I'm more and more convinced that our country is doomed. Because so much attention is paid to the "median" #voter, or as they say "someone who doesn't pay much attention to #politics".

So much air taken out of the room by catering to the least informed and thoughtful, paired with systemic dismantling of our #education system to produce citizens that can't think critically...

How does a nation come back from that? It's a death spiral.

Our shitstain of a #mayor tried to stop a #voter-approved project on a major pair of one-way streets because it took them from four lanes to three. That space was reallocated to trees on both sides, better #busStops, and a #bikeLane that was separated from traffic.

Before he was mayor, he represented me in #state #government. He ran as a #Democrat — and he's sooo awful that the local #Dems censured him. I screened him for that race, and our organization endorsed a real Democrat.

The truth can sting.

@TimWardCam I disagree - profoundly. When I was a #member of, & #voter for, the #LabourParty, & I was proud to be so, it was a #progressive Party. Now I wouldn't touch it with a disinfected bargepole. Perhaps it can never compete with @thegreenparty on the #Left, but it could certainly do so with the @libdems, if it abandoned its #authoritarian instincts. The document says Thomson Reuters is able to let ICE continuously monitor millions of people and entities of interest.

Voters in South Korea were unable to cast their ballots due to a shortage of ballots.
Although I generally oppose electing leaders through voting, I am sharing this because what happened in South Korea this time was completely beyond common sense. Despite receiving a budget that was more than sufficient to produce ballots for all voters, the National Election Commission produced and supplied fewer ballots than the number of eligible voters (they claim they didn’t expect the voter turnout to be that high), resulting in people being unable to vote in several districts, including Seoul. The Election Commission’s response to this was even more outrageous; they angered the public with their inept handling of the situation, such as delivering ballots on motorcycles without police escorts. As an anarchist, this incident made me clearly see how government agencies look down on the people and are negligent in their duties, and it made me realize just how many flaws there are in the electoral system.
