We are fortunate be able to hike thru/around our ski area off-season. Probably get arrested ones like Alta or Mammoth Mtn. Strenuous 20K hike to 2865m top today from 2240m base. So much less ❄️ than last year, easy to get around. Not much mud either, drying out fast. Hope our cooler spell this weekend pans out. Wildflowers full swing S-facing slopes lower half. Great views looking out NW-N-E-SE. Warm 21C at base cooler up top of course. #climate #hiking #dogs #mountains #montana #gye

I can recomend a hike in #Ehrbachklamm ravine near #Koblenz, Germany. The hiking trail involves some climbing next to the creek as the trails are really narrow at times. This is fun.
From the higher altitudes, you get to see beautiful panoramas and some castles.
Down in the valley lies Eckmühle restaurant operated by young alternative people serving e.g. vegan Flammkuchen.

As a small boy, a long long time ago, whenever I was at my grandfather's, I was intrigued by the book "Bergsteigen" from the Südwest Farbig series. This series focused on various themes by using actual large coloured(!) pictures. I went through this book from 1971 uncountable times.
To my surprise, the past weekend my sister brought the book for me. I had not seen it for 35-40 years. I would not say I knew every next page before turning it, but it looked very satisfactorily familiar.
At the time I could not read German, so finally I can do some catch up. I guess though, that some of it might be a bit outdated 😅
