Been following this series from day one? Then you’ll know this is the seventh post. It relates to our return walk on our fourth day in the area. New to the series? You’ll find links to earlier posts at the end.

The descent from the summit of Cat Bells is around 1215 feet (about 370 metres) in terms of the drop. In terms of distance, it really depends on which route you select, but our walk back was just short of 2 miles (3 km).

The main path back down is easy to spot once you’re at the summit. But you need to know different routes lead away from there. What you seek is the path that immediately tends downward, to the left.
