  1. A Stay In The Lake District #5

    Friar’s Crag & Strandshag Bay.

After our clockwise boat trip around Derwentwater, we had a break for lunch at Treeby’s Café on Lake Road. It’s a lovely eating place sited on the ground floor beneath the Treeby and Bolton Gallery, accessible either through the gallery or via the entrance on Lake Road.

We then returned to the lakeside to take a look at Friar’s Crag, a small promontory overlooking the lake and Strandshag Bay and giving distant views of the jaws of Borrowdale.

One thing I don't do enough of is posing and people photography.

Something I want to get a lot better at this autumn

  12. Storm Ashley was definitely making its presence felt over Derwent Water yesterday.
Swirls of water dancing on the surface as mini tornadoes formed and banks of haze over 30 feet tall being dragged across the lake as the wind rushed through Borrowdale and up towards Skiddaw.
The most brutal conditions I've ever shot in and some of the toughest light so here's a quick snippet. Compositionally poor, but the feeling of being there in the moment was astounding!
