  5. I do not believe Americans are more violent than the rest of us.

Law and practices there simply give violent people a leg up.

  6. I can remember a time when the attitude of what I consider good software enngineers was something like: We apply good engineering practices to minimize failure while accepting that failure will sometimes happen, and if it does, we apply equally good engineering practices to deal with it.

Listening to some people now, I get the vibes that because there always were bad engineers (true), and we need to be able to deal with failure anyway (true), the first set of engineering practices does not matter and we should focus solely on catching and correcting failure after the fact (😱).

This feels akin to saying that we should do away with safety engineering for cars because we should focus our efforts on patching up accident victims instead.

  14. 🗂️ Stop feeling like you're just herding cats. Start enabling real, measurable improvement.

Learn how to get your team unstuck with this one-day workshop that will show you how to significantly strengthen your Scrum practices with proven Kanban principles. See exactly where bottlenecks are happening. Focus your team's energy. Coordinate work continuously, not in endless meetings.

No disruptive transformation needed; layer Kanban on top of what you're already doing. Use WIP limits to stop the multitasking madness and actually finish work.

This workshop is not just for software development or people with a computer science degree. We've helped many non-software teams become more effective.

Who attends: individual contributors (developer, tester, BA), ScrumMasters, Product Owners, traditional project managers, mid-level executives, and Agile Coaches.

November 13, live online, 9:00 to 5:00 Eastern.

  19. SonicWall’s latest critical flaw indicates a security pattern, not another one-off bug

SonicWall has disclosed yet another critical flaw in a core product, CVE-2026-102255, rated a maximum 10.0, which CSO Online argues points to a deeper security pattern rather than an isolated bug. The repeated critical issues raise questions about the vendor’s secure development practices. csoonline.com/article/4232246/

  20. Theres a stark contrast between what the neighbors and locals who visit our place say and what my parents do when looking at our old fixer upper.

The neighbors all exclaim, “what a wonderful project” and “you’re so young, you have your whole life ahead” while my parents ask, with persistence they probably don’t even notice, when the work will finally begin. In their view, you renovate before the child arrives, not after. Anything other than that is irresponsible.

But I’m sitting here as cabinet hinges are tested to destruction, there’s pencil on the walls that I don’t remember seeing, and floorboards are lifted for closer inspection. It’s guaranteed that he’ll find the dustiest spot in the house and investigate it thoroughly.

Of course we tell him not to even as everything will be replaced, but the chaos agent practices selective listening.

I’m quite OK with not renovating until this phase is over. The parents will be tackled some other time. Our lives, worries and priorities are just too different now.

  21. Komprise has amassed $85 million in funding and multiple patents for its metadatabase, which lends structure to unstructured data. Data processing is increasingly in the spotlight as enterprise #AI struggles to reach production.

"It's garbage in, garbage out," according to Krishna Subramanian, COO at Komprise, something more enterprises are realizing as they develop #contextengineering practices for #AIagents. But Subramanian argues that common techniques such as RAG and vectorizing data aren't enough to ensure quality results.

🔬 The art and science of data classification

  22. Your AI coding agent may already be integrating your product. 🦾 But what is it learning from?

At PCDD 2026, Developer Advocate Ondřej Chrastina will examine how products and open-source projects can prepare their knowledge for AI coding agents, rather than leaving them to rely on outdated training data.

In his talk, 'AI Best Practices for Your Product', Ondřej compares three very different approaches: CKEditor with agent skills, Markdown documentation and an MCP server; TYPO3 with a slower, interface-first approach; and Drupal with its funded AI initiative and evaluation-backed best practices.

The goal is to provide a practical, PHP-friendly blueprint that developers can apply to their own products and projects.
