America's #garbage #trucks can do more than just collect trash, reports Newsweek. They may also help identify code violations using #AI. Officials in #CapeCoral , #Florida, recently considered equipping sanitation trucks with AI-powered cameras that would photograph properties as crews complete their normal collection routes. The system would have been designed to identify potential issues such as overgrown lawns, peeling paint, and illegal dumping, and to flag violations so the city staff can review them later before taking enforcement action... However, in a statement on July 13, Cape Coral officials said it would not be moving forward with the #camera technology, citing cost issues and insufficient benefits.

Apps on my phone, but isolated to its own profile in graphene.
I haven't posted about migraines. Haven't searched for anything regarding migraines on that profile.. I don't think I even talked about migraines around my phone. But two days ago I started an attack, and today Facebook is showing me ads about some crazy migraine relief product.

I think people should try to find open source (OS) and open weight (OW) models as alternatives to these SaaS AI coding tools.
Start by using them together (with the SaaS).
Set thins up so you aren't locked into these SaaS.
Have, in a practical sense, the ability to completely switch over if need be.

You can be tracked by your voice.
You can be identified by your voice.
This same voice recognition technique also makes it so your voice can be synthesized — making you say anything with a "deepfake".

Google is apparently testing a new reCAPTCHA method that prompts you to turn on your device's camera to prove you are human by scanning your hands.
I assume this will eventually be mandatory, just like the current reCAPTCHA.

Title VII of the Foreign Intelligence #Surveillance Act (FISA) is set to expire at midnight tonight after Congress failed to pass an extension of the controversial spying law. But that doesn't mean the government's spying powers will disappear.
Surveillance under #Section702 of FISA "operates under yearlong certifications approved by the FISA Court," the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University School of Law explained this week. The current certification will remain in place until March 2027 under the yearlong certification issued by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court on March 17, 2026.
