#Anthropic #Mythos is few days old, its got an uncanny ability to chain #sploits and find bedrock old ones. Hence your mentions.
What's funny is all the #antiai #infosec "professionals" who just days ago were "Hahaha #Ai is useless, let's watch it all burn!"
Are now writing blogs "AKSHULLY ZERO DAYS ARE NOT IMPORTANT AT ALL"
It would be amusing if it wasn't so sad seeing ideologues get buried.#vibecoding is not dying, its getting more routine with improved memory system, token saver plugins and incremental, week to week improvement.

Yep! Thiel’s Palantir is like a putrid Ebola virus infecting & corrupting everything it comes into contact with!
Apols in advance if you’ve already read these, but these two articles via #CorporateWatch (in order of publication) are of interest in this context:

Welcome to our 19th century house. She’s 140 years old and she’s been waiting for people who’d take her seriously, which is why I think she chose us more than we chose her.
This is the start of a series on renovating her carefully, slowly, sustainably as much as we can. Posts will happen whenever there’s something worth sharing on this long timeline.
If you also love old houses, I sense we’ll get along.
Thank you #storySeedLibrary for the artwork!

Important decision locked down: where to put the garden beds. Or rather, somewhat decided for us.
Right near the border of the property would’ve been ideal, but the neighbors’ dog is very territorial and would bark at us constantly while tending to them if we put them there. He’s let loose to run around the property by himself in summer, with hardly anyone watching. Oh well.
Second best spot it is. Except a massive clear out is now in order to make room for them.

I figured someone, somewhere, is trying to grow food that doesn’t murder the soil. Someone has terabytes of wildlife camera monitoring and drowning in footage. Someone has a brilliant idea and absolutely no software skills or budget.
Maybe we can help.
We’re just people who can code, but maybe “just people who can code” might be exactly what someone needs right now.
We’re already collaborating with some rewilding projects, and we’d like to do more of it and meet more people trying to do things that matter.
The few people we talked to, who are fighting the important fights, are using broken tools, or no tools at all.
Maybe we can be of use to people protecting and restoring ecosystems, innovating sustainable food systems, or those tracking what’s actually happening to the living world around us.
We don’t have all the answers. I don’t even have most of the questions most days, and I’m trying my best to learn. But we’re good at software, we can build things that work, and we’d rather build things that matter.
To end this thread, I’m casting a wide net but if you’re trying to save one specific part of the world and software is the thing standing between you and doing it better—please talk to us! We want to meet you.

#WebOS is probably one of the most unexciting and least customizable smart TV platforms out there.
You can’t do much to the home screen. The app selection is limited. I’ve downloaded apps that looked legit but their own servers don’t work, and someone forgot to pull the plug on them. It’d be funny if it wasn’t sad.
Anything app we could delete we did, and kept only the bare minimum.
By default, the TV Home Screen recommends popular content from Amazon, not something we subscribe to or want. Also by default, the screensaver advertises their football notifications service. Luckily, both these things can be turned off.
But the worst — while trying to turn off the annoying screensaver ad for football updates, I discovered Live Plus—LG’s feature that uses ACR (automatic content recognition) to watch what you’re watching so they can serve you personalized ads. It’s enabled by default. Most smart TVs have this, and are literally analyzing your screen to sell you things. I turned it off immediately.
And then there’s Microsoft (‘Microslop’) Copilot. Yes. In the damn TV. LG apparently announced it at CES in 2024 but we don’t keep up with that scene. They pushed an update that automatically installed it, and you couldn’t delete it. LG insisted it’s a shortcut, not an app. Only after some backlash, LG said they’ll eventually let users delete it in a future update.

Starting to seriously consider jailbreaking our #WebOS-based TV.
Besides turning off the automatic content recognition, adding Copilot to it in an update (yes you read that correctly) and other annoying features that are turned on by default, the limited customization is starting to get to me.
What started this is that our kid now knows how to press buttons on the remote. He knows buttons do things. Press others, and different things happen. So of course he’s trying them all.
The worst one triggers built-in Alexa. We don’t want Alexa but we can’t delete Alexa. She pops up with recommendations and a ghastly robotic voice that says, “I’ll recommend some content to watch.” Of course thats’s the one he keeps pressing because it makes the robot lady say things 💀
I want to make her go away before he’s old enough to pester us about whatever she recommends.
