  1. advertising again for interested players for an asynchronous play-by-email high fantasy Cypher System game I am starting up. I switched from IRC to a mailing list after thinking update procedures through.

    • home setting, largely defined collaboratively during chargen and play
    • moderate posting cadence, we are all busy
    • laid back and welcoming to all forms of writing as long as it moves the action forward
    • all experience levels welcome
    • lurkers welcome

  2. Today's audio experiment - asynchronous music

Part 3/1000 of the journey to EDM :)

    * Using wavetable synthesis to generate "pure" notes of different frequencies from a sawtooth wave.
    * Generating random tracks (length = 4 * 16 beats) from a library of tracks
    * Choosing notes from C-major pentatonic scale
    * Notes played asynchronously so other r work can be done
    * {governor} package used to control playback rate.

  8. AppSync supports long running events with asynchronous Lambda function invocations
    aws.amazon.com/about-aws/whats
Previously, customers could only invoke Lambda functions synchronously from AppSync, which meant that the GraphQL API would wait for the Lambda function to complete before returning a response. With support for Event mode, AppSync can now trigger Lambda functions asynchronously, decoupling the API response from the Lambda execution.

  9. I'm doing an essay on asynchronous Kauffman boolean networks (using N=9, K=3). I seem to not be able to locate any attractors, at least not anything that I can recognise (i.e. a specific set of states that when they appear the system will stay in these states or cycle through them). Also there is nothing consisten when starting from the same initial condition. Am I missing something here?

Thanks for the help in advance!!

  12. Calling a synchronous API instead of an asynchronous one is like making a phone call instead of sending a text message. It will work much of the time, and has 1 or 2 advantages, but when it doesn't work, it requires special processes to recover from, or the task just falls out of scope and is forgotten.

    almost always improves .

  15. Just merged two PRs for adding asynchronous dataset import to the Unity Volume Rendering plugin!

Dataset import now happens in the background, and in the editor (Unity 2020+) you will see a nice little progress bar.

Thanks to SitronX for the pull request! 👏

  16. Just went through [Unit testing Asynchronous Code in Swift] by @tundsdev on this video:

Absolutely brilliant, clear and concise explanation. I would highly recommend it. 👌🏾

Got me doing a bit of refactoring on some of my unit tests too. Even more so, I discovered that Apple did release an Async/Await API for HealthKit (starting with iOS v15) and I went ahead and made a bunch of code updates there too.
