In our third paper this session we have John Giebfried talking about using a "Reacting to the Past" game system in classrooms, giving players different roles around the Crusader sack of Constantinople in 1204 and using this to explore the different ideas and approaches around the topic with students.

  16. Our first keynote of #MAMG24 is on Medieval Borders in the Context of Video Games, by Juan Francisco Jiménez Alcázar of the Universidad de Murcia.

    This talk covers some of the realities and ludic necessities behind how medieval borders are presented in gaming contexts, and why we end up coming back to the over-simplified lines on maps that we're often familiar with.
