#CyberDeck addiction is real, y'all
Left to right: #PicoCalc (ClockworkPi) running a Lua firmware, #Tanmatsu (Nicolai Electronics) running the Synthwave example app, and #HackberryPi CM5 (Zitao) running the Pico-8 retro game development app (@zep) on top of RPi OS.

And finally, I'm always a sucker for a #cyberdeck - and the CyberPlug is a great example. 3D-printed frame? Yup. #RaspberryPi inside? Check. Off-the-shelf compact keyboard and odd-aspect-ratio display? Yeppers.
But take a look at the breadboard section to the left of the screen, wired in to the Raspberry Pi's GPIO header. Now *that's* handy!

🥳 Behold the Typeframe PX-88, where a Raspberry Pi meets a mechanical keyboard in a love story for the ages. Spoiler: it's a "portable computing system" that thinks it's a #cyberdeck but is just a glorified clicky keyboard with delusions of grandeur. 🚀 Perfect for those who think a Pi in a box will launch them into the hacker elite. 😂

This modular Linux device is an open source handheld with a 4.1 inch display
A small team of developers is building a pocket-sized, modular computer with a 4.1 inch, 1080 x 480 pixel touchscreen display, an an STM32MP157 dual-core Arm Cortex-A7 processor, and 4GB of DDR3 memory.
At a time when high-end smartphones have the kind of processing power you’d expect from a decent laptop, the the “Linux Platform Kit” may not be the most powerful device you can fit in your […]

Typeframe PX-88 is a Raspberry Pi-powered CyberDeck inspired by a portable PC from the 1980s
The Typeframe PX-88 is a modern computer with a retro design that’s inspired by the Epson PX-4, a portable computer released in 1985. But this is a fully modern device with a flip-up touchscreen display, a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B for brains, and a USB Type-C port, among other things.
You can’t actually buy a Typeframe PX-88. But you may be able to build your own, because designer Jeff Merrick […]

Besty gifted me his #diy #printrbot #3dprinter that he's honed to perfection over the years, and I've been having a lot of fun learning to use it! I've also been brushing up on my #freecad skills so that I can design more portable computers and #cyberdecks in future.

Dear Fediverse,
Do you have a podcast you would be happy having archived?
I've been working on a mad project combining #cyberdecks #homelab mini racks and #recycling old tech. I'm in the process of writing it all up so hopefully will publish soon.
It means I've got a portable low power pseudo-server cluster which would work well as an archive - I recently read that podcasts are at risk of disappearing and while #internetarchive does a wonderful job I thought it would be fun to have another archive.Let me know if you are interested! I only want to host podcasts if given permission

Saw a #CyberFuckUp in the wild today. Master Elon has designed a vehicle to fit a niche market that doesn't exist. #Cybertruck is neither utilitarian, nor sporty, nor a family car. It's only appeal is to #Elon #fanboys and #Nazis perhaps.

Lilbits: Nintendo Switch price hike gets a price hike 8 years after launch, a dual-screen cyberdeck, and goo.gl link shortener isn’t (entirely) dead yet
The Nintendo Switch sold for $300 when the game console first launched in 2017. Since then Nintendo has added a lower-cost Switch Lite as well as a premium Switch OLED. And this year the company launched the follow-up Switch 2.
There continues to be demand for original even 8 years after launch, but while most old gadgets get cheaper over time as newer models are introduced, Nintendo is doing […]
