The Flipper One is still a pocket-sized gadget with an awful lot of networking features. But it’s also a full-fledged Linux computer that runs open source software and support for modular hardware expansion thanks to PCIe, SATA, and USB […]

  10. I'm pondering design for a super minimal #pocketComputer, not a phone replacement but rather a device tailored to do only what's useful to me not distracting, basically what do i need on an average day out when i don't want to be stuck in my phone?

Ideally i could make this modifiable in a way that anyone could tailor it to their own needs and make one, so:

If you had to choose 4 essential features to leave your phone at home, what would they be?

  11. There's an ebay guy that sells scans of technical manuals. He had the PC4 Sevice Manual. So I got a copy.

Not a lot to the manual, these things weren't really going to be repairable with 198X equipment.

This manual also covers the matching cassette interface, though, and I was interested in that.

Hoped the interface was just some caps and resistors, but nope there's a whole IO chip in there. Outputs Kansas City format tape!

  18. I was wondering old dot matrix LCD displays still exist... I mean the ones we had in old #pocketcomputer s. I'd love to experiment a #lowres interface with the #raspberry #pi4 .
320x200 with backlit would be nice for my next cyberdeck iteration ♥️
