@hp wow, well, I've got a little pile of floppy disks on my desk, like 30cm away from me 😅
I don't use them daily, I'm just messy and leave a lot of stuff everywhere 😅
The nearest one (the first of the pile) has a lot of handwritten stuff on it, but none reflecting its content. It's probably mac-formatted because I was repairing a #Powerbook 170 last time I used them. The second one, btw, is definitely something for my #amstrad #ppc640 because it has a piece of tape on the right hole to make it recognized as 720k, and the amstrad is the only 720k machine I've got around... -

Surfing the #internet at blazing 9600 baud with my #homebrew #wifi #serial modem! Finally with a proper db9 to db25 adapter instead of janky jumper wires.
Also, I'm running on #batteries !
I could literally pick it up and go use it everywhere...

My #Amstrad #ppc640 has an old-style 25 pin #rs232 port. Unfortunately yesterday I couldn't source a #db9 to #db25 #serial adapter, so I had to...ehm...improvise 😅
It seems that only Rx, Tx and ground are needed for it to work!

It seems to work fine. It's meant to run on 10 (TEN!!) C batteries, for a total of 15v. Its wall wart is a 12v one, so I think the higher voltage on batteries is meant to account for the internal resistance. I used 3 18650 lithium batteries, so the voltage when full charged is lower than 10 full charged alkalines, and with the batteries almost empty should be about the same. Lithium batteries also have a lower internal resistance, so I believe it will be fine.
