Looks like the #Renault #Scenic 2 is leaking oil.
I was able to confirm my gearbox reverse light switch repair and gearbox oil change are not the source of this (gearbox still full, lowest spot of the engine is just at the gearbox darin plug thats why the oil goes there).
Cleaned the accessible bottom part of the engine, found that the gaskets of the oil stick failed so ordered a new one and found out that the oil is actually coming right from the top of the engine. To access this part, a special nut and a new air inlet gasket are required. Waiting for those now...
According to some online sources, the screws that hold on the cover are not sealed/tend to leak around the screw head. So just removing one at a time, cleaning the surface and reassembling them with a bit of "gasket maker" could fix this. Cleaning is useful anyways to find out where exactly the oil comes from if this does not fix it.

180 Watt standby power consumption.
I love how they explain that there are transistors on the inside. Possibly to argue with the "more tubes, more better" crowd?

In todays #carrepair: #Renault #Scenic II part number 8200500323 removal.
To access the antenna, the head liner needs to be removed partially. To remove the head liner, the plastic side covers need to be removed, first (on both sides). There are a LOT of plastic clips and just a few torx 20 screws. The trunk light needs to be unplugged. The white plastic parts can stay in the car. I had to be careful to remove the trunk window area plastic parts from the white supporting part. The clips are quite hard to undo.

Used radio: 45€ incl. shipping. Bluetooth aux receiver: 15€ incl. shipping. Remote still works, display works, CD playback works, Bluetooth music playback works, call quality is not great.
60€ for this vs. ~150€ for aftermarket unit and additional ~70€ for a steering wheel remote can bus adapter.

#electronics #CarRepair #carstereo any recommondations regarding a replacement radio that supports display and steering wheel remote for #renault #renaultscenic ?
This radio never saw a CD until now. Unsurprisingly, the mechanism to eject the CD is broken ( rattle noise and no movement). I'll disassemle the drive and check if I can fix it, but a modern #headunit that supports things like bluetooth would be great.

@Sektorenkoppler
#SteckerPV Autarkie 13,6% ; Eigennutzung 94% ; 16€ gespart. Dafür, dass die Module für sehr flache Wintersonne eher ungünstig positioniert sind ein ganz gutes Ergebnis. Ab einem gewissen Neigungswinkel gibts dann gleich viel weniger Abschattung, ich erwarte also bald einen deutlichen Zuwachs. Die Loggerei ist jetzt noch mal verbessert, endlich minutengenaue Livedaten und kein manuelles ablesen 1x/Monat mehr. -

Anyone controlling a #huawei r4850g2 power supply/battery charger via #canbus from a #raspberrypi running #venusOS with #nodered and a #candlelight usb adapter?
On one side, I am so deep in this rabbit hole that its not much more effort to implement the canbus communication and control algorithms in node-red or call call the C program https://www.beyondlogic.org/review-huawei-r4850g2-power-supply-53-5vdc-3kw/ ; On the other side I want to avoid to reinvent the wheel and focus on interesting stuff and not debugging can communication.
I read a forum discussion about people integrating the charger in their #victronenergy system, but they never wrote how they did it - apparently some kind of #mqtt #dbus bridge emulating a Victron charger with the actual communication done by some ESP8266/33; other people just set a default voltage/current and use it to top up their offgrid system with a small generator.

Apparently, it is possible to buy a pre-flashed Gotek to work with #Tektronik #TDS700 #TDS600 scopes. For 170€ incl. shipping.
Lets see if I can do this for ~40€.
Ingredients:
1. #Gotek SFRM72-DU26 (~33€ shipped)
2. #flashfloppy firmware to make it 1.44 MB
3. OLED display (2.5€ shipped) 128x32px
4. 26 pin 1 mm "type B" 200 mm flat flex (3.5€ shipped)The flat flex is required to reverse the pinning.
The OLED is optional but cheap and a huge debugging aid.
Flashfloppy can be flashed with two USB-A to USB-C cables, an USB-C extension Adapter (A to A cable) and a piece of wire, so basically free (had the parts handy). The flat flex will arrive at ~end of december. So maybe this will be an xmas gift to myself...

Btw. #Creality SpacePi X4 temperature and humidity readings seem to be reasonable. I can confirm the small temperature gradient front to back, but as the filament surface cools quickly this would require precision thermal sensors to not get false readings from the open lid (hot air is blowing out at the back.

...and mounted a towbar. Because it was super cheap as nobody seems to buy one for a ~20 year old car with an electric parking brake and no hill brake assist. Hey, I just need to be aware of that limitation.
160€ including shipping is a great price. Parts are powder coated. I just need to splice into the tail lights, which will be done tomorrow.
I will put some fuses in the wires to the trailer connector - I really do not want to disassemble the front of the car to get to the fuse box if trailer wiring is bad.

Its the last work week of 2024 and my bike just passed 23500 km, thats at least 3500 km this year (was at 20000km end of january).
In those 10.5 months I cycled to work at 83% of my work days, used the car for 9% and worked from home 8%.

My #Tektronix #tds700 series scope got its #gotek floppy emulator and it works great. Its not exactly fast, but I expected this.
I did not need the "reversing" flat flex cable as the original one is the correct type.
This thing is approaching 30 years, but its not that dusty inside.
The fan sometimes makes some bearing noises (will add a few drops of oil to the bearings soon).
I am mainly concerned about the NVRAM and RTC. Both contain coin cells embedded in the package so I need to desolder them, make a big plastic dremeling mess and add new coin cells. But first I need to find out how to dump the factory calibration... this is a new rabbit hole - yay.

After running into issues with this last year and giving up, I am super happy to report that I managed to get the 3D path #CAM functionality in @FreeCAD working. Debian packages are old (as usual) at 0.19 and never found the required library, AppImage of 0.21 gets mad at me if I select a tool (3mm end mill) from another folder and refuses to work afterwards, current dev from Github built from source works (after updating cmake). #cad #milling #cnc #cncmilling

Temporarily reassembled this mess... but was interrupted by rain. Can't run the engine with some plastic covering the currently non-waterproof front of the car. Moving parts, hot etc...
So I switched the reverse light switch and its connector last week.
Indeed, the parking brake was unhappy about the inconsistent signals.
Reverse light works again.
ASR is happy after driving a few meters.
Apparently there is the option for TPMS but they are not fitted. Ok, I dont care.
Apparently there is a short for the steering column lock sensor. I will ignore this one for now.
The #iCarsoft thingy can show/plot the climate request signal. As the fan blew 100% in the meantime but just for 1 day I assume the climate controls have a bad CAN bus contact/loose connector.
