Though a rudimentary DSO by today’s standards, I still find this 1980s era Tektronix digitizer plugin to be quite useful. At 100ms and under, it’s got a cool ‘continuous roll’ display that’s handy for slower signals.
This is one of several multi-bay plugins for the 7000 series, and it’s well suited for the 7603 mainframe, with its larger screen.

With a working GPIB connection (thanks @vk2bea !), I'm able to read out the full error log from my Tektronix TDS754D.

I'm suspecting (and hoping) this is a bad ram chip). I have a tenuous understanding of the whole system, but I'm only seeing capture errors on some sweep rates, and dependent on which / how many channels are active.
It's an utterly bad-ass instrument, and I'd love to get it back to 100%

Bummer. Got a bunch of these nixies and about half have some missing digits that do this. Trying to scrounge enough to send some to a fellow Tektronix nerd in Germany.
Some of them have digits that just do this and don’t fire at all, while some others have one or two digits that won’t fire unless you jump from an adjacent digit with a little bit of overlap where they’re both on.
I know they had a bit of radioactive magic in them to help them fire, which I assume has decayed beyond helpful at this point.

Voltage measurements starting to show signs of life after swapping out a few bum transistors in the 0% zone card. The 0% cursor isn’t working yet, so I don’t know where it’s measuring from, but I can get changing readings by moving the 100% cursor. The change roughly corresponds the peak to peak amplitude, which is promising.

@kenshirriff The first microprocessor I worked with that had a barrel shifter was at my first job at #Tektronix - port the #Magnolia #workstation (#Motorola 68000) V7 #UNIX first to 68010 but a few years later to 68EC040. The '40 had the barrel shifter. Man rotations were zippy. Later for #WindRiver I ported #VxWorks RTOS to #MIPS and #PowerPC chips. PPC bitfield ops were efficiently done with a bunch of rotate with mask instructions - IMO the pinnacle, the kitchen sink of embedded instructions.

⌨️🟩 The Tektronix 4051 is a microcomputer from 1975, which, adjusted for inflation, would cost approximately €25,000 today 😮. It features a 1 MHz Motorola 6800 processor, with 8-32 KB of memory, and data can be stored on a "quarter-inch" tape drive with a capacity of 300 KB. Thanks to its unique cathode-ray tube, it can display graphics in a resolution of 1024x780 🤩
