Nieuw programma bij Concertzender: ‘Panorama de Leeuw’
Morgen, woensdag 1 oktober, begint bij de ConcertZender mijn nieuwe programma ‘Panorama de Leeuw’. Hierin volg ik elke eerste woensdag van de maand tussen 21.00-22.00 uur het muziekspoor van Reinbert de Leeuw, aan de hand van mijn biografie Reinbert de Leeuw, mens of melodie. Net als in mijn boek streef ik ernaar vooral ook de geïnteresseerde leek te bereiken, terwijl daarnaast de kenner volop aan zijn of haar trekken komt.
Ik ben erg blij dat de ConcertZender mij de gelegenheid biedt een groter publiek te enthousiasmeren voor muziek van na 1900. Henri Drost schreef er voor Cultuurpers een stukje over. Extra leuk is dat ik met dit programma terugkeer naar de zender waarbij ik in 1994 mijn eerste schreden zette op het pad van de radiojournalistiek.
De ConcertZender draait geheel op vrijwilligers en is dus afhankelijk van donateurs. Al dertig jaar vecht deze avontuurlijke zender steeds weer met succes voor zijn leven. U kunt trouwens ook gratis steunen, door uw internetaankopen te doen via hun sponsorkliks.

Afgelopen zondag 21 september werd het Sextett van Wolfgang Rihm herhaald in TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht. Het programma van Quatuor Danel, de hoornist Bruno Schneider en de componisst/klarinettist Jörg Widmann was echter aanzienlijk moderner dan wat zij donderdag 18 september presenteerder in het Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ in Amsterdam. In plaats van het Klarinetkwintet van Mozart stonden nu het Negende Strijkkwartet van Rihm en Air voor hoorn solo van Widmann op de lessenaars. Ik sprak hierover met Widmann tijdens de inleiding in de helaas maar matig gevulde Hertz zaal.
De lezing over mijn biografie bij boekhandel Jansen & De Feijter van afgelopen donderdag 25 september was een groot succes. Het toegestroomde publiek was zeer aandachtig en betrokken en wilde van geen ophouden weten. Toen ik mijn betoog na ruim een uur afsloot, volgde nog een stortvloed aan vragen. Als Walter Jansen – boekverkoper van het jaar 2014 – niet had ingegrepen, stond ik er nu waarschijnlijk nog… Jansen maakte me trots door mijn biografie van Reinbert de Leeuw te vergelijken met die van Annejet van der Zijl over Annie M.G. Schmidt.Inmiddels staat ook het gesprek online dat Ivan Borghstijn van boekhandel Nawijn & Polak met mij voerde voor zijn radioprogramma bij HofstreekFM. Borghstijn stelde overigens ook de cd-box ‘Aangenaam klassiek’ samen, die afgelopen donderdag werd gepresenteerd in VondelCS. Hierop staat onder andere een door Reinbert de Leeuw gearrangeerd lied uit de Maeterlinck Gesänge van Zemlinsky. Ik sprak hem hierover voor Preludium in 2013.

Het lied is te vinden op een zojuist verschenen cd van het Vlaamse ensemble Het Collectief en de sopraan Katrien Baerts. Deze is geheel gewijd aan door De Leeuw gemaakte arrangementen van werken van Berg, Zemlinsky, Busoni en Webern. Uiteraard gedirigeerd door Reinbert De Leeuw zelf.
Vanavond om 20.00 uur geef ik een lezing over mijn boek bij boekhandel Feijn in Alkmaar. Ik zie ernaar uit.
