'We are all waiting for our turn to starve to death'
In the 1980s there were huge global efforts around the famine in #Ethiopia but there's now a muted response regarding the ongoing #TigrayFamine made worse by war & suspended aid.
This famine could rival the worst of the past. Moving report of experiences from a Tigrayan village affected by hunger and famine

"Genocide & scholasticide may go hand in hand as interlocking parts of a comprehensive 'final solution'. In some cases scholasticide is simply part & parcel of a general program of annihilation."
Israel's wholesale erasure of all forms of regular Palestinian life in the Gaza strip includes the specific targeting of educational institutions and their staff.

It may take time, but the King & his Temple Government will eventually fall.
Until then, don't give up & keep fighting for an India that is secular, celebrates diversity & equality & strives for justice.
I'm not a Hindu but don't think Ram is happy today.

@Tony_Meredith thanks. I've edited to clarify. While they have recommended boosters for specific groups, a wider rollout is desirable. #JCVI has overall taken a minimalist view , not properly acknowledging how infections/re-infections can undermine the immune system & lead to further complications (even for the 'healthy'). THey have been reluctant re kids vax, unlike comparable countries. How they define risks of hospital admissions, deaths is also problematic imo.
-
Unless you are in a clinical risk group or a health care worker etc, if you are under 64 #JCVI thinks it's ok if you get infected. In the past the booster was offered to a wider age group & also to kids. The belief in hybrid immunity/ mass infection still seems to persist.
‘Cost effectiveness’ is ‘considered by age group & clinical risk group’ disregarding risks of #LongCovid, excess deaths & overall health/wellbeing https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-autumn-2023-vaccination-programme-jcvi-advice-26-may-2023/jcvi-statement-on-the-covid-19-vaccination-programme-for-autumn-2023-26-may-2023 #CovidIsNotOver #covid #LongCovid -

Great work by Alice Corble & colleagues reflecting on how colonial legacies in library collections at Sussex University & Institute of Development Studies (IDS) were catalogued over time & possible epistemic (in)justices. Given that IDS library was dismantled, this is so important, also for #decolonising efforts.

Solidarity to Medha Patkar & activists of the Save the Narmada Movement on fast in Madhya Pradesh, India. We are in the 5th year of a global pandemic that won’t go away & the current wave was more significant than the 4th so we can't assume COVID will get less severe over time. Everyone is tired of mitigations so why are public authorities not rolling out #CleanAir, ventilation & mandating checks on air quality/ There's a lot to do re global vaccine equity. And until these are place, big gatherings should still mandate testing/some masking?

Wetlands are where land meets water and the sea.
Their value is neglected by policy-makers & short-sighted politicians & they are often grabbed by property developers. Yet these 'amphibious environments' are so crucial for biodiversity, local fishing and pastoralist livelihoods as well as carbon sequestration.
