The Sustainable Development Goal targets for #water (#SDG6) are severely, dangerously falling short. At current trends by 2030, 2 billion people will still lack safe water, 3 billion safe sanitation, and 1.4 billion without basic hygiene. The target is universal coverage.
Achieving this will require a massive 6-fold increase in progress for safely managed drinking water, a 5-fold increase for sanitation, and a tripling of progress for basic hygiene services. -
The United Nations System-wide Strategy for Water and Sanitation will be launched on July 16 during the SDG 6 and Water Action Agenda Special Event, at the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.
